Just after 10:30 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling eastbound on Huron Road near Holmesville when he encountered a speeding westbound Pontiac Grand -Am. The officer confirmed his obser- vations with a RADAR device and measured the speed of the vehicle at a speed of 134 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was completed and the driver was charged. An 18 year old female from Huron East has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. Her driver's licence has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days. She has a court appearance scheduled for November 18, 2014 at Provincial Offences Court - Goderich. ASHFIELD-COLBORNE- WAWANOSH - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit are currently investigating four break, enter and thefts that are believed to be connected. Police were notified of the crimes yesterday afternoon. Investigators have since deter- mined four farmhouses in the vicinity of St. Helen's were entered on October 26, 2014 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. All of the involved residences were unoccupied and had been left insecure. Two of the farmhouses located on Zion Road had firearms and hunting equipment stolen. • A Cooey, single shot, .22 caliber rifle, with a Browning sling was stolen from a farm- house on Zion Road. This fire- arm is valued at $100. • A camo coloured Browning BPS 12 gauge pump action shot- gun, a camo coloured Excalibur Vortex crossbow and a camo col- oured, older molder Champion compound bow were stolen from a nearby residence on Zion Road. The value of these stolen items is estimated at $900. Cash and household items, including silverware were stolen from the other residences. Two males, aged 18 to 30 years of age may be involved. One male had short dark hair and the other had longer blonde hair. The suspect vehicle is described as a being a burgundy/maroon coloured GMC or Chevrolet sin- gle cab pickup truck. The pickup truck bed was open. Any person with information regarding this incident should immediately contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314. EXETER - A traffic stop on October 24, 2014 has led to crim- inal charges against a 17 year old female from Exeter. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a restaurant on Main Street after an employee spotted a vehicle in the drive-thru with open alcohol. At approximately 11:15 p.m. officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Main Street in Exeter. Upon speaking with the two occupants it was learned a female passenger was failing to comply with her court imposed curfew condition. The female was placed under arrest and was subsequently searched. The search Incident to arrest revealed the female was in possession of marihuana. As a result, a 17 year old female from Exeter has been charged with Failing to Comply with an Undertaking & Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Mari- huana. She will have to attend Youth Justice Court - Goderich on November 13, 2014. MORRIS-TURNBERRY - Huron County Ontario Provin- cial Police (OPP) has charged a 31 year old male from Chesley following a traffic stop on Octo- ber 26, 2014. Just after 8:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers stopped a Dodge Ram pickup truck on Brussels Line near C Line Road. Officers spoke with the driver and upon checking the status of his driver's licence they deter- mined he was currently under suspension. He was placed under arrest and a subsequent search revealed the driver was in possession of a controlled drug (Morphine). The street value of the seized narcotic is estimated at approximately $9,000. As a result, a 31 year old male from Chesley has been charged with Possession of Schedule I Substance and Drive Motor Vehi- cle While Under Suspension. He has a scheduled court appear- ance on December 11, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Wingham. CENTRAL HURON - A 30 year old driver will have to find an alternative means of transporta- tion after his vehicle was impounded and his driver's licence was recently seized. On October 17, 2014 at approxi- mately 12:27 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck travelling northbound on Base Line at a high rate of speeding. A check on the vehicle's speed with a RADAR device revealed the vehi- cle was travelling at 151 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver, a 30 year old male from Stratford has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. His driver's licence has been sus- pended for seven days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
