GDCI Christmas Craft Show

On November 1 Goderich District Collegiate Institute (GDCI) held its annual Christmas craft show and once again it was a success. With over 90 vendors at the
event, people had a very wide assortment of hand -made, specialty crafts to view.

Sunday Oct. 26 a Celebration of Bap-
tism took place at the Brucefield Com-
munity United Church. Worship Leader
Colin Snyder led everyone in Worship.
Weston Rathwell lit the Christ Candle.
Greeters were June Cooper and Norm
Eckel. Willi Laurie read the first Testa-
ment reading and the Minute for Mis-
sions. Comnie Townsend presented
Sullivan Benjamin Rathwell for Bap-
tism. Sullivan is the son of Ben and
Andrea Rathwell and the grandson of
Gerald and Jean Rathwell. Colin Snyder
performed the act of Baptism and San-
dra Turner on Behalf of the U.C.W. pre-
sented a rose. Prayers were said for the
Hill family on the passing of Marion Hill
and also for Charles Reid in hospital.
Birthday Wishes were extended to Matt
Lobb, Carol Simons, Anna Keys cele-
brating her 90th, Casey McGregor, Pal-
oma and Valentina Melo (twin daugh-
ters of Erin and Poncho Melo)
celebrating their 5th Birthday.
As a community we all wish Bernice
Reid a Happy Retirement after 35 years
of faithfully delivering mail each day.
Best Wishes to Bernice. U.C.W. Meeting
will be Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The Seniors Stan Lee meet Nov. 5 at
7:30 p.m.
The Stewardship Meeting is Nov. 18
at 7:30 p.m. and the BBUC Council
Meeting is Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
The Brucefield Community United
Church is hosting a Turkey and Ham
supper Sunday Nov. 9 from 4:30-6:30
p.m. For tickets call 263-2682.
Sunday Nov. 9 is Remembrance Day
Sunday and following a short Service
the Congregation will travel to Varna for
the Cenotaph Service and the laying of
the Wreaths.
White Gift Sunday will be Nov. 30.
The Crokinole Club met last Tuesday
evening for doubles play. Dave Whyte
and Steve Lefaive tied for 1st with Mur-
ray Perdue and Cor Vanderhoven with
41 pts, in 2nd place was Ken Pollock
and Ralph Stephenson, 3rd place
Cheryl Trewartha and Jack McLachlan
and 4th place was Sam Bradica and
Brad Sangster. The Club will meet Nov.
11 at 7:30 p.m.
Results from the Card party held at
the Odd Fellows Hall in Brucefield last
Thursday evening were Ladies High
Barb Oesch, ladies low Phylis Ald-
winckle, Mens High Mack Webster,
mens low Stuart Wilson and the most
lone hands Donna Smale. Draws went
to Ethel Walker and Nancy Turner.
Next Card Party will be Nov. 13. Every-
one welcome!
