Clinton News Record, 2014-05-28, Page 2424 News Record • Wednesday, May 28, 2014 Varna News for Joan Beierling Special to the News Record The last Card Party for the season was held at the Odd Fellows Hall in Brucefield last Thursday May 22nd with a lovely chicken dinner pre- pared by Dorothy McGregor prior to the Cards. Thanks to Dorothy for preparing the meal and to Fred for leading the cards. High man was Bob Thomas and low man was Margaret Hayter play- ing as a man, High lady was Ann Brock and low lady was Joyce Wil- son. The most lone hands went to Jim Collins and the draws were won by Mona Alderdice and Edith Swan. Fred would like to thank every- one for all the support for the season. It has helped with the new gas furnace put into the Building. Cards will resume in October again. On Friday May 23 Stacey Consitt was the recipient of many lovely and useful gifts held at a commu- nity bridal shower held in her hon- our at the Brucefield Community United Church. Deb Rathwell wel- comed everyone and started with a dialogue of Stacey's life. Meggin Govier was a little prin- cess dressed in pink and she played the piano and Rechel Hill gave a lit- tle dialogue on Stacey and she played the piano with her grandma Shirley Hill. A group of line dancers also took part and did three num- bers suitable for the shower and Dancing With the Stars player Mar- jorie Hayter gave everyone a chuckle. Kim Consitt (sister of Stacey) read the address and Stacey opened her gifts. Stacey thanked everyone very graciously. Stacey will be marrying Cody Anderson on July 19 and they are wished the very best. They are residing in Varna. Trish MacGregor was the Wor- ship leader on Sunday in the Brucefeild Community United Church on rOODLAN Ba Sunday.Samantha Chuter lit the Christ Candle and Edith Swan was the reader.Trish talked to the chil- dren on "Many Colours in the Rainbow" and here Reflection was on "Colour My World". The Choir favoured everyone with an Anthem "Fly Away Home". Birthday Wishes were extended to Hope McGregor, Bill Dundass and Brenda Consitt. Muffin Sunday will be held Sun- day June 1st so plan on staying after the Service. Donations will go towards the Mission and Service Fund. Tuesday June 3rd at 7:30pm the U.C.W. meeting will be held. Guest speaker Linda Renkema from the Clinton friends of the Community Foodbank and Room2Grow, Roll call will be something for the food - bank. Everyone welocme!!! Wednesday June 4 the Stanlee Club will meet at the Varna Com- plex for a pot luck supper at 6pm. Entertainment by Bob Heywood to follow. Thursday June 5th at 7:30pm the ay 28 Whitney South Huron Expositor Really Big Wheels The man of the hour, Dean O'Reilly shares a smile during the Drive for Dean fundraiser May 24 in Seaforth. Brucefield Community United Church Council will meet. Sunday June 8th Worship will include the sacrament of Baptism and Communion. Decoration Service will be at Barids Cemetary on Sunday June 8th at 2pm. The Varna Pork BBQ is coming up on June 18th at the Varna Com- plex.
