combo biking from B.C. to
Newfoundland to raise money for
Jumpstart program
Special to the News Record
Like most ambitious
travellers, Will and Claire
Fleming share a mixed bag
of emotions as they near
the finish line of a cross -
Canada trek for charity
dubbed Bike7650.
Although the siblings are
new to cycling, they have
been biking an average of
175km per day since start-
ing in Stanley Park, BC on
April 13.
They are scheduled to
wrap up the 7650 km
adventure in St. John's
NFLD on May 28.
Will, 20, and Claire, 17,
have been accompanied by
their mother, Jennifer, who
operates base camp from
the family RV. All three are
from Londesborough.
Their original goal was to
raise $7650 for Canadian
Tire's Jumpstart program,
which provides financial
assistance to help kids par-
ticipate in organized
sports.
Fundraising began with
family and friends and
quickly spread throughout
their hometown and
nearby rural communities.
They surpassed their
fundraising goals before
their tour even began.
The Bike7650 fundrais-
ing tally currently tops
$24,000.
