Things kick off on Sun., May 18 at 1:30 p.m. Besides the races, there is plenty planned for the day including a Cen- tral Huron Secondary School fund- raiser for Challenge day 2014 which will include a bake sale, 50/50 tickets, a silent auction and a barbecue. There will be $2 "Opening Day" t -shirts (while quantities last) and a chance to win a big screen television courtesy of Groves TV & Appliance Centre. The 2014-15 season will feature 15 days of racing from May 18 to Aug. 31 (there will be no races on Sun., June 8 in account of the Clinton Spring Fair). Jessica Carnochan said they usually attract between 300 to 500 people from across southwestern Ontario each week. She said they like to work with differ- ent local organizations and service clubs to help them with their fundraising. Last year there were some improve- ments made to the track, as it was wid- ened, the drop off was eliminated on the outside and a winner's circle was added to the grandstand side, which all made it safer, Carnochan said. This year, upgrades to the grandstand will be completed. These include the installation of bucket seats, upgrading the kitchen and bar area and a fresh coat of paint.
