BCH Midget Local League
team capped off an amazing
season by capturing the
W.O.A.A Maroon Division
Championship. BCH swept a
strong Saugeen Shores team
with two decisive victories 4-
0 and 4-1.
The Midgets' success
comes after an impressive
season record of 28-4-1.
GAME 1 MONDAY MARCH 17
BCH 4 SAUGEEN SHORES 0
If you only looked at the
score one may assume this
was a lopsided game, but
nothing could be farther from
the truth, with a couple of
bounces the score could have
very well read 4-0 Saugeen
Shores. As advertised, the
Storm blew into town with an
up tempo offense and solid
goaltending. Much like most
opening games of a series the
early part of the first frame
involved each side trying to
get a read on the other team.
Both net minders were solid
allowing their respective
teams to work the jitters out.
This took most of period one,
before a strong BCH fore -
check resulted in a turnover.
Jonathan capitalized sliding
one under the pad of the
Storm tender. Once again the
goalies turned back several
potential goals, allowing BCH
to lead 1-0 after one period.
Period two saw Saugeen
Shores put their high octane
offensive on display. If not for
several spectacular saves by
the Dog's tender and one by
his trusty friend the goal post,
the Storm could have been
leading. With under a minute
to play in the period, BCH
executed a textbook two on
one as Jeremy squeezed one
thru the Storm puck stopper
after taking a perfect feed
from Colin. Period 2 ended
2-0 in the Dogs' favour.
As the world famous Zam-
boni driver Paul H prepared a
fresh sheet of ice, all hoped
Coaches Scott, Harold and
Jason would be able to keep
the boys focused for a Sau-
geen Shores blizzard.
As expected the Storm
came out with a vengeance to
begin period three. They
pushed to find a hole in the
armor of the Joab. As the mid-
way point approached Colin
scooped up a Storm clearing
attempt at the offensive blue
line. After dipsy-doodling
around a couple of Saugeen
Shores defenders he roofed
one over the Storm's tender
just under the bar. Although,
the fans were happy with a lit-
tle breathing room, the whis-
per in the stands was for BCH
to find a balance between
protecting the lead and some
offensive zone pressure. With
the Storm making a final push
to break through on the
scoreboard, BCH's goalie
turned power forward Joey
came into play. As he inter-
cepted an errant pass in the
offensive zone, then per-
formed a couple of dangles
and sniped one past the out-
stretched pad of the Storm
puck stopper. The remaining
5 minutes or so created sev-
eral oohs and ahhs from Dog
supporters, but ended in a
4-0 Ice Dogs victory.
GAME2 THURSDAY MARCH 20
BCH 4 SAUGEEN SHORES 1
With the hardware in the
building BCH entered the
Southampton barn looking to
finish off an incredible sea-
son. The boys entered the ice
to a thunderous roar from
their faithful fans. Saugeen
Shores came out with an edge
to their game. BCH remained
focused on the prize and let

the storm unravel. Which is
what they did with three play-
ers ejected and a constant
parade to the sin bin. The
Dogs scored the only goal of
the period when Cody Kyle
(that's my boy!) found the
mark, allowing BCH support-
ers to jump out of their seats
in celebration. Both Joab and
the Storm keeper denied all
other chances to allow BCH a
1-0 lead after one.
Period two saw Saugeen
continue their chippy play.
Each side added a goal to
their side of the scoreboard.
As the ice resurfacer entered
the ice the Dogs held a 2-1
advantage. Come on boys
let's finish this tonight.
The final stanza saw the
Storm come totally unglued
and BCH much to their credit
stayed focused on
their mission. In
so doing they
added 3 more
goals to their tally.
As the final
whistle sounded
the IceDogs and
their loyal sup-
porters erupted in
celebration, hav-
ing completed
their season long
goal of becoming
