out. Custom Creations is a sewing and embroidery business that
focuses on customized items for all ages. Funky Monkey Fabrics

bibs all the way to personalized shirts and beer koozies for the
adults, Melissa can make just about anything for anyone.
Custom Creations has been in operation for about 4 years, and
Funky Monkey Fabrics since August. Melissa said the decision
to start selling fabric has opened up many choices for her
customers as well as cutting down on her travel and turnaround
time. Melissa prides herself in being able to offer amazing
prices on beautiful, popular fabrics that are often hard to find in
Canada. She ships all around the world but is hoping operating
a store out of her home will encourage people to shop locally
as well. Most of her business primarily comes through facebook
and etsy, "Social media has allowed my business to be exposed
to thousands of people," she says. "It is amazing!" Customers
often bring their ideas to her, and even as the economy changes,
custom baby gifts are one thing that will never go out of demand
or style. Her custom pieces are all unique, made by Melissa one
at a time, turning customers' ideas into designs that suit them.
Melissa works out of her home in Varna, and also operates a
booth in the Made in Huron store on Albert Street, Clinton. You

The success of St. Anne's Comedy of Errors was
no mistake.
Students have been working on the play since
September, and this year's entry in the Sears Fes-
tival earned them three awards. They performed
in Listowel Thursday, March 20.
The cast and crew won an award of merit for
the overall production, while Rebecca Lowey
won an award of merit for her acting.
Leading the pack, however, was student Anna
Miltenburg, who brought home an award of
excellence for her stellar design. Miltenburg
worked with costume and set design while also
serving as stage manager. All told, there were 32
students involved in the production.
The Shakespeare classic was reworked into a
one -act play with a steam -punk vibe, which
caught the eye of the judges at the festival's open-
ing round.
The play features two sets of twins, with real life
twins Genevieve and Shannon Petri alongside
sisters Rebecca and Brittney Lowey.
A boat wreck separates the twins at birth and
coincidence brings the estranged families
together along with a circus full of pickpockets
and a father in over his head with debt.
Learning the Shakespearean dialect was a big
part of pulling off the performance, noted teacher
Crystal Brennan -Yeo. It was literally learning
another language all together, and students used
body language and expression to make the lines
accessible to the non -Shakespeare crowd as well.
The play was adapted by Warren Robinson of
Goderich, with Lin Marsden and Eleanor Robin-
son creating the costumes.
St. Anne's will be showing the Comedy of
Errors Thursday and Friday evening (March
27-28) at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday,
March 30.
All money raised from the performances goes
directly to the drama department to cover cost of
show and any left over profit goes to following
year's festival expenses.
Meanwhile, CHSS and GDCI have moved on
to the next round of Sears competition. We will
catch up with the Phoenix in next week's Clinton
News -Record.
