to 7.53 per cent over 2013, actual growth
in the municipality is slightly below one
per cent at 0.93.
At the budget meeting, council was in
agreement that spending could be
increased to reflect actual growth, rather
than the assessment value increase.
All told, the municipality's cash
requirements are lower this year over

last. The 2014 budget shows cash
requirements of $5,106,037 - a 3.28 per
cent reduction over last year's
$5,289,900.
Overall, tax rates are decreasing across
the board this year.
Education rates have dropped 4.25 per
cent.
County rates are down 4.05 per cent.
The amount of Central Huron's
decrease depends on how much the
municipality decides to put into reserves
for the year. A transfer of $540,525 would
mean a decrease of .49 per cent while
limiting reserves to $295,100 would
mean a 3.88 per cent decrease, based on
estimates from the finance department.
Treasurer Terri Rau cautioned council
that reducing reserve transfers too much
could leave Central Huron lacking as
provincially mandated asset manage-
ment plans are rolling out, and some
infrastructure is in rough shape.
Meanwhile, capital projects for the
current year are budgeted in at $2.92
million,
Topping the expenses are base coat
for Fish and Game Line, Tower Line
Road and Telephone Road at $320,000
and top coating on Blacks Point Road at
$245,000.
Bridge repairs on McKillop Road and
Orchard Line come in at $217,000 and
$120,000 respectively.
The rehabilitation of the Clinton Sew-
age Treatment Plant is pegged at $1.29
million, with the entire cost being cov-
ered by grant money.
