The Avon Maitland District School Board
invites applications for
Homestay Services Coordinator
Reporting to the Director's Office, this position is responsible for recruitment of homestay families for international students
attending Avon Maitland schools, host family and student monitoring, and placement of international students with an
appropriate family as well as participation in orientation programs and providing information for host families. This position
will work from the Education Centre in Seaforth and requires flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements:
Minimum two year post -secondary education/training in Business, Social Services, Marketing or equivalent program;
Experience working in homestay services is considered an asset;
• An understanding of other cultures along with a sensitivity for working with international students;
• Exemplary organizational, time -management and planning skills;
• Strong positive interpersonal, communication skills (speak, read, write, listen) and conflict resolution skills;
• Ability to work independently under pressure and with a high level of initiative; and,
• Excellent working knowledge of current office software.
Duties Include:
• Homestay family recruitment and monitoring;
• Placement of students;
• Student and homestay family support;
• Completing associated paperwork and record keeping; and,
• Other related responsibilities
This employment opportunity is a non-union term position for twelve (12) months commencing immediately, with potential for

There are openings for permanent Educational Assistants across our school district for September 2014.
Requirements:
Minimum college certificate as an Educational Assistant or related program; Child and Youth Worker or
Developmental Support Worker diploma and/or training in Braille would be an asset;
Non Violent Crisis Intervention and/or Behaviour Management training preferred;
• The ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position, including but not limited to, lifting, toileting
and transferring students and supporting associated mobility equipment;
- Proven experience providing behavioural, physical and developmental supports for school -aged students;
• Expertise implementing effective behaviour management strategies and the ability to be flexible to support
students requiring multiple supports;
- Ability to work effectively as part of the school team;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; and positive interpersonal and professional skills;
• Ability to organize, prioritize and multi -task in a busy environment;
• Understanding and commitment to confidentiality; and,
• May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

community agency, providing in-home and community services. We
require a fulltime Intake Coordinator who serves as the first contact for
Community Support services for clients, caregivers and referral sources
and assists them in understanding, accessing and navigating available
services and supports. Duties include completing telephone assessments,
intakes, providing service information, data input. Also provides daily
administrative support in the office for Community Support services.
Qualifications:
• College diploma in program related to seniors or social services.
• 2-3 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in (Word, Excel, Microsoft Office) and office equipment.
• Demonstrated problem solving, assess situations, set priorities and
decision making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, typing, time management skills.
