A local dental clinic will be offering
an opportunity to receive free dental
care next month.
The Clinton Dental Clinic will be
hosting Dentistry from the Heart on
Fri., July 11. This event will offer ser-
vices to both adults and children in
memory of the late Dr. Grant Lee.
Dr. Lee founded the clinic and prac-
ticed in Clinton for over 30 years. He
loved his community and always
strived to give back to it whenever pos-
sible. After learning about Dentistry
from the Heart at a dental convention
he immediately wanted to host an
event. He brought the information back
to the office and told everyone about it
but no date had been set. After his sud-
den passing last summer, the staff
decided the best way to honour his
memory was to follow through with the
event.
Dentistry from the Heart was origi-
nated in the U.S. by a dentist named
Dr. Vincent Monticciolo as a way to
give back to the community and pro-
vide aid to the growing number of
people without dental insurance.
According to a press release from the
organization, Dentistry from the
Heart events have contributed more
than $8 million in free dental care and
helped more than 45,000 patients

Jacqueline Clausius,
office manager of Clinton
Dental, said dental care is
something many people
cannot afford because of a
lack of insurance or other
reasons, adding that even
people with insurance can
struggle with costs.
Dr. Veronica Lee, Dr.
David Turner and three
dental hygienists will be
providing treatment. There
will be many staff volun-
teers and also the support
of the Huron County Health
Unit on site the day of the
event. Clausius believes Dr.
Lee would be very pleased
that the event is happening.
He will be smiling down on
all of us!
The clinic will run

can choose between a fill-
ing, an extraction or a

Blyth Gallery exhibits realist paintings of
Haliburton's Rose Pearson
Special to QM! Agency
It's not often that an artist
paints images of herself into
the sides of a teapot, but Rose
Pearson does just that. She
places a highly reflective sil-
ver vessel against a back-
ground and photographs the
result, then paints the image
in realistic detail. If you look
very closely, the reflected
image of the artist, camera in
hand can be seen. The public
can discover this fascinating
work as the Blyth Festival Art
Gallery presents a special
exhibition of paintings by the
Haliburton artist. It is the first
of three feature shows
mounted this season at the
popular local gallery.
Pearson works from a stu-
dio, which is nestled in the
woods in the Haliburton
Highlands. She has formal
education in drawing and
painting, graduating from
York University, with a Bach-
elor of Fine Arts. In the studio,
she paints with acrylics and
oils and also mentors other
painters. She is also
employed by Fleming Col-
lege, teaching courses for the
Haliburton School of The
Arts.
In this exhibition, titled
"Vestiges and Pauses'; she is
investigating moments of
pause in the natural world that
she has called home - the
woods of Haliburton County
and the farmlands of Peterbor-
ough County. Light and space
are key elements that are inte-
gral to this body of work. She is
intrigued by light and shadows
and reflections and her work is
