Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance meeting highlights
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
(HPHA) Board of Directors met in
Clinton on Thursday, June 5.
An overview on the preparations under-
way for the Huron Perth Healthcare
Alliance's upcoming Accreditation
Survey taking place October 5-9,
2014 was presented to the Board,
with plans for further education and
a mock survey to take place over the
summer.
Committee updates were received for
the Seaforth Local Advisory Commit-
tee, as well as the Govemance, Qual-
ity, Resources and Medical Advisory
Committees. Reports were provided
by the Clinton, St Marys and Seaforth
Site Chiefs, Chief of Staff, Chief Nurs-
ing Executive and President and
Chief Executive Officer
Approvals:
- Six new Govemance Policies to be
added to the HPHA Govemance
Manual
- Year-end March 31, 2014 Financial
Statements and associated reports
- Annual Attestation - April 1, 2013 -
March 31, 2014
- Multi -Sector Service Accountability
Agreement— October 1, 2013 -March
31, 2014
Meeting Highlights:
• Planning for the Seaforth Site refresh
of the Emergency Department and
Inpatient Unit is underway, hinging on
finalization of the Rehabilitation
Study recommendations.
• Construction for and installation of
new imaging equipment at St Marys
Site is finished.
• Clinton Site refresh project will begin
at the end of June and St. Marys
refresh project is underway.
• HPHA ended the year with a surplus of
$1.3M.
• Capital expenditures for 2013-2014
totaled $4.2M ($1.6M facilities
related, $2.6M equipment related).
• Seaforth Foundation participating in
the Walton Moto Cross and CKNX
Radiothon again this year, supporting
equipment needs at Seaforth Site.
• Govemance Manual updates/changes
complete and will be finalized for
implementation in the fall.
• Physician adoption rates for use of
PatientKeeper at 60% and this plat-
form will be used to launch physi-
cian/ provider order entry.
• Recruitment activities successful with
a number of potential candidates
interested in work across the
Alliance.
• Bed realignment planning indudes
physician engagement sessions
across the sites and human resource
planning associated with new staff-
ing models.
• Discovery Week was successful and a
good opportunity to engage and
introduce medical students to the
Alliance, encouraging them to return
for future electives.
• Alliance is popular with Schulich stu-
dents and residents, with a waiting
list for some rotations.
• Nurses' Week event was successful
with approximately 140 staff in
attendance to hear guest speakers.
• Tripartite Study involving HPHA, Knoll -
crest Lodge, Mitchell Nursing Home
and Ritz Lutheran Villa is winding
down with the final report expected
in late June/early July; a meeting
with members of the three Boards
planned to review findings and share
feedback.
The next HPHA Board of Directors Meet-
ing will be held Thurs., September 4
at the Strafford site.
