Free dental care in
honour of local dentist
Huron County, ON-- The
Clinton Dental Clinic is hon-
ouring its founder by offer-
ing a day of free dental care
in July.
Dentistry from the Heart is
set for Friday, July 11, 2014
and is open to anyone.
Adults can choose between
having a filling, an extraction
or a cleaning. Children can
have cleaning and fluoride
treatment.
Dr. Grant Lee passed away
suddenly last July. He
learned about Dentistry
from the Heart years ago and
had a dream of offering a day
of free dentistry as a way to
give back to his community.
His family and staff feel that
this is the best way to honour
his memory.
Registration starts at 7 a.m.
at the Clinton Dental Clinic
at 218 Ontario Street in Clin-
ton. The clinic will run from
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and you
must show up in person to
register that day.
Patients will be booked on
a first-come, first-served
basis until the schedule has
been filled. The Clinic sug-
gests that people come pre-
pared to wait outside and to
bring water, snacks and toys
for your children.
If you have questions, call
the Clinton Dental Clinic at
519-482-9392.
The day is also supported
by the Huron County Health

Hand foot and mouth
infections spreading
says Health Unit
The Huron County Health
Unit is seeing an increase in
hand foot and mouth disease
(HFMD) also called coxsackie.
They are advising residents,
particularly parents of chil-
dren attending daycares,
to stop the spread of infec-
tion by increasing hand
washing.
Public Health Nurse DoriTay-
lor says hand foot and mouth
infections may cause fever, poor
appetite and blisters in mouth, on
palms of hands and bottom of
feet. The virus can be found in
saliva, blister fluid and stool and is
spread from person-to-person by
unwashed hands.
Taylor encourages children
be kept home from daycare if
they are sick and may return
when able to participate in
normal activities. There is no
specific treatment for
HFMD and most people will
recover in a few days.
"Hand washing with soap
and water for 20 seconds is the
best way to prevent the spread
of this infection as well as
other infections" says Taylor
Using an alcohol based
hand sanitizer with between
70-90% alcohol when hands
are not visibly dirty can also
work. Hands should be
cleaned after using the
washroom, after changing
diapers, after shaking hands
and before preparing and
eating food.

sists of 230 acres along the
