HULLETT CENTRAL
PUBLIC SCHOOL
"Responsibility; being reliable and
considerate, is the character attribute
receiving emphasis during January at
Hullett Central Public School.
Last week's school news mentioned
that Grade 2/3 were studying structures
and planning some bridge construction.
This week we have building reports from
two groups. Garrett and Ava reported
that their construction from popsicle
sticks is an upside-down suspension
bridge.
"It has triangle sides that hold the roof
of the structure. We put support pieces
on the floor of our deck to make sure the
deck was perfectly flat so we could make
our support angles. We have three
popsicle sticks on the sides of our
deck to make it strong. We looked
up pictures of bridges to give us
ideas on how to build our bridge.
We haven't tested how strong our
bridge is yet which is good
because we are not done build-
ing. We have to glue more popsi-
cle sticks to the roof and put
another layer on the deck run-
ning the opposite way to the first
layer so it will be stronger and
able to take more pressure."
It is that time of year again for
storytelling and speeches.
Wednesday,
Teachers are talking to their
classes about how this oral
communication part of the cur-
riculum will unfold. Volleyball
tryouts are underway for inter-
mediate students.
Mrs. Elder's class was visited
last week by Annayjie Oosthui-
zen who shared her experiences
as an immigrant from South
Africa. This class has been putting
the finishing touches to their sto-
ries. On Wednesday they will
present their writing at a 'pub-
lisher's party:

PLAN NUMBER 1-3-658 OPEN-PLAN LIVING AREA
At the heart of this three-bedroom family home is an open-plan living area,
including a great room with a gas fireplace and access to a deck, part of
it covered. Both the living area and the bedrooms are on one floor, with an
unfinished basement included in the plans for future use as bedrooms or a

The great room, dining area and kitchen are located directly ahead. The kitchen
features a sky -light over the main working space, with a corner pantry and
a raised eating bar with three seats. The stairway down to the basement is
located nearby.
The master suite, which looks out to the back garden, has an extra -wide
window sill that could double as a window -seat. The en -suite, with a linen
closet adjacent, includes double sinks and a soaker tub with a tiled surround,
