To keep this council somewhat functional will be the biggest hallenge. Continuing reduction of provincial support and the need to maintain infrastructure will cause budget challenges. As of this moment a constructive discussion about these issues is impossible with the current council What is one regret you have from council in 2013? (Or, what would you do differently in retrospect?) As a council serving the whole of CH we failed miserably to deal with the festering de -amalgamation issue. We all tolerated and tolerate a councilor whose aim is to break this municipality apart on a council that is to represent the whole municipality. More decisive action should have been taken the minute this issue was pursued in the way it was. What is your top personal priority on council for 2014? Not to get sucked into the pre -selec- tion and de -amalgamation obstruc- tionist and grandstanding circus and try to keep council functioning so it can serve ALL residents. Are you going to run for office again in 2014? (Why/why not?) I have not decided at this time, but if 2014 continues the way 2013 ended, then definitely not. Waste of valuable midlife time. If things return to being constructive, my family is on board and I sense there is public support then possibly. COUNCILOR BRIAN BARNI What was council's biggest success of 2013? Some will say it was the finalization of the boundary adjustment where Central Huron gave away an important part of the former Goderich Township. I would not agree with that. My personal success was gaining the attention of Central Huron Council in my own personal effort to de -amalga- mate Goderich Township from Central Huron and bringing forward the con- cerns of our ratepayers. Making coun- cil accountable to the ratepayers who elected them and hearing council try to explain why their taxes are as high as they are with no end in sight - not even in an election year. The den is ideally located to serve as a home office, and looks out onto a covered porch, spacious enough for a pair of rockers and some containers of greenery. Beyond the U-shaped stairway to the second floor is a coat closet, and through an archway is great room, located at the back of the home. A room for all seasons, the great room boasts a corner fireplace and enjoys access to a covered terrace. Adjoining this covered terrace is another terrace, not covered, and overlooked by the dining room's large windows — just the spot for al fresco meals in the warmer months.
