While the Canadian men's curling
team were busy winning gold over in
Sochi, Russia, the CHSS boys curling
team capped off the Huron -Perth
season in similar fashion Wednes-
day, Feb. 19.
Skip Ethan Doig and his crew of
vice Adam Vincent, lead Alex Vincent
and second Sam Steep were unde-
feated in their quest for Huron -Perth
gold, taking down St. Mike's in the
final game at the Vanastra Curling
Club. They head to WOSSAA
March 5.
Meanwhile, the CHSS boys #2
team, skipped by Matt Southgate,
took third place.
On the girls' rink, CHSS skip Chris-
tina Schelken and crew placed sec-
ond behind F.E. Madill.
Earlier in the month, the Huron
Curling Competition took place at
Vanastra, with the Phoenix literally
sweeping the standings. The boys' #1
and #2 teams took the A and B divi-
sions respectively, and the girls' team
took the A championship, while
Madill took the B.
And, if that weren't enough acco-
lades, skip Doig and team went unde-
feated in five games to take the Gore
School Boys Provincial champion-
ship Feb. 13-15. Alex Vincent was the
first selection for the all-star team,
and Doig was the second. Doig also
earned the most sportsmanlike
award.
1 CHSS earned boys' gold and bronze
and girls' silver at the Huron -Perth
curling finals in Vanastra Feb. 19.
