Brown mixes colours and creativity with Olympic snow sculpture Gerard Creces Clinton News -Record "Why do I do it? Just because," said Clinton resident Robert Brown. Brown is the man responsible for the Olym- pic snow display in the empty lot beside the dollar store on Albert Street, Clinton. The work includes the Olympic rings, as well as mound sculptures of flags from around the world. Armed with a bag full of spray bottles filled with tempera paint and a book of flags, Brown was out touching up his creations on the first day of the Olympics, Thursday, Feb. 6. "I've been wanting to do something for years in this empty lot," he said. Brown also wanted to make a big valentine in the lot, but that is a lot of work for just one person. For the flags, Brown is able to use a small spray bottle. For the larger rings and Canada flag, he used a weed sprayer, courtesy of Verbeeks. "It worked great," he said, adding his hands were getting sore in the cold from the squeeze sprayers. While he said his wife thinks he's crazy for heading out in the cold, it's nice to be able to drive by and see something interesting, he said. His Rattenbury Street home also features his handiwork in the form of two bears on the lawn. Ideally, he said he would like to approach council to sponsor a snow sculpting event. This winter has produced no shortage of the white stuff. However, for now Brown is content with his Albert Street display, adding a few extra flags to his sculpture - mostly from countries with now, he said.
