Watch six couples compete on the dance challenge similar to Dancing with the Stars of 911 and Danc- ing with the Stars of Huron County except participants are only 13 to 18 years old. November 5 The release of Hennykins the bald eagle There is a large population of bald eagles in the area and there are many people who care greatly about them. Those at the Hullett Provincial Wildlife Area, Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilita- tion & Education Centre, Minis- try of Natural Resources and one local wildlife photographer are just some of those people who are committed to ensuing their wellbeing. November 5 Huron -Perth nutrition program receives $5,166 from Tim Hortons. There were plenty of smiles shared in Clinton and Seaforth last week as the annual Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised $5,166 for the Huron - Perth Eat & Learn School Nutri- tion Program. For one week, Tim Hortons guests had the opportunity to purchase choco- late chunk Smile Cookies for $, with all proceeds from the sales supporting the local community. The restaurants owners proudly handed over the donation to Huron -Perth Eat & Learn School Nutrition Program on October 28 at the Tim Hor- tons located at 300 Ontario Street in Clinton and all com- munity members were invited to join celebration. November 12 Local man receives Red Cross award for saving stranger's life In conjunction with CPR Month, the Canadian Red Cross for using quick -thinking and first aid skills to save a stranger's life honored a Clin- ton area resident. The award presentation took place on November 4th at the Jacob Memorial Building in Clinton. Last August, James Boshart and his brother were out at a local garage sale when James noticed a very pale man sit- ting in a chair. Someone else had noticed the man sitting lifelessly and called out for help. James sprung into action using the skills he had learned at the Red Cross First Aid course. November 12 Successful Summer Company students recognized Ten successful Summer Com- pany students and their mentors were recognized on Friday, October 24th at their graduation dinner at the White Carnation, Holmesville. On November 12 she met with reporters and signed the agreement in the gymnasium at St. Anne's Catholic Second- ary School in Clinton. December 3 Former Goderich Town- ship sends petition to Queen's Park The Municipality of Central Huron was created in 2001 and replaced the Town of Clinton and Goderich and Hul- lett Townships. However, now residents of the former Goder- ich Township want to separate from the Municipality of Central Huron and last Thursday they sent a Petition of Right to Queen's Park requesting that the province allow for the separation. December 3 Tri -county partnership receives fundingfor paramedicine Huron County, in partnership with Bruce and Perth Counties, will receive provincial funding to support the development of a pilot community paramedicine program in the region. Commu- nity paramedicine is a develop- ing field of practice where para- medics apply their skills and training in health care to situa- tions beyond emergency response and transportation. December 10 Farmers boycott pesticide forums The organization representing Ontario's 28,000 corn, soybean and wheat farmers is asking its members to boycott upcoming provincial forums on a contro- versial pesticide blamed for bee deaths. The Pollinator Consulta- tion forums, organized by the Canadian government, which started this week with a session in London on Tuesday. December 10 Central Huron inaugural coun- cil meeting Mayor Jim Ginn, Deputy Mayor David Jewitt, returning councillors, Marg Anderson, Danny Colquhoun, Alison Lobb, Burkhard Metzger, Alex Wester- hout as well as new councillor, Genny Smith, all swore a decla- ration of Oath of Office at the Municipality of Central Huron's inaugural council meeting last Monday afternoon. December 17 Bayfield residents recognized by YMCA for keeping the peace A Bayfield resident was recently recognized for her efforts to make a positive differ- ence in her community.
