"Music, Laughter...and all that jazz" at Huron County Playhouse in 2015
Special to the Signal Star
Seven productions will
take centre stage at Huron
Country Playhouse in Grand
Bend with an ambitious 2015
Season of "Music, Laughter
... and all that jazz!"
"This season promises to
be remembered for years to
come," says artistic director
Alex Mustakas. "We have
planned a season full of
magical moments, complete
with Broadway blockbusters,
heartwarming comedies,
nostalgic musical tributes,
and lots of family fun.
Tickets are on sale now
exclusively to Members, fol-
lowed by groups and sub-
scribers on Mon., Nov. 10
and the general public on
Dec. 1 just in time for the
holidays.
Huron Country Playhouse:
Mainstage
The 2015 Season kicks off
with the most popular musi-
cal in Canadian history,
Anne of Green Gables, on
stage June 11 to June 27.
Journey to the shores of
Prince Edward Island and
follow the misadventures of
Anne Shirley, a freckle -
faced, red-haired orphan
who will immediately cap-
ture your heart with her irre-
pressible spirit.
Next up is the hotly antici-
pated production of Chi-
cago, July 2 to July 18. Bob
Fosse's energetic; cabaret
style musical continues to
seduce audiences world-
wide. Winner of six Tony
Awards, Chicago glitters
hypnotically with brassy
songs, astonishing dancing,
biting satire, and of course,
all that jazz.
After a sold -out engage-
ment at the St. Jacobs
Country Playhouse this fall,
Footloose is dancing its way
onto the Huron Country
Playhouse stage, July 23 to
Aug. 8. Based on the beloved
80s movie, Footloose is the
feel -good story about a
young rebel who inadvert-
ently heals the heart of a
small town when he encour-
ages the local youth to defy
the strict edict of the local
pastor and hold a rock 'n'
roll dance.
From the creators of last
year's sensation, Twist and
Shout: The British Invasion,
comes another production
in the perennially popular
Legends series of tribute
shows that will put a snap in
your fingers and a song in
your heart. Legends ... of
Rock 'n' Roll relives the
incredible discography from
the 1950s through 1970s that
forever changed the
landscape of modern music.
Such influential acts as Elvis
Presley, Roy Orbison, The
Beach Boys, Elton John,
ABBA, and Simon & Garfun-
kel are celebrated in this
tribute to musical pioneers,
Aug. 13 to Aug. 29.
Huron Country Playhouse II
Check in for a weekend of
laughs with the lighthearted,
racy comedy Sexy Laundry,
on stage June 11 to June 27. A
couple checks into a swanky
hotel room for a romantic
getaway, all in the hope of
rekindling some much-
needed passion - but jump-
starting their stale love life
proves infinitely more diffi-
cult, and hilarious, than
anticipated.
Last Chance Romance is a
topsy-turvy romantic com-
edy about the perils of find-
ing "the one:' It's frothy, fun
look at the absurdity of love

will warm your heart and
tickle your funny bone. The
production runs July 2 to
July 18.
After the success of last
season's production of
Peter Pan: The Panto,
comes Snow White: The
Panto. In the British Panto
tradition where audiences
cheer the hero and boo the
villain, this lively produc-
tion boasts a winning com-
bination of incredible
musical numbers, slapstick
comedy, outrageous cos-
tumes, audience participa-
tion, and of course, seven
dwarfs. Once again, there
will be opportunities for
local youth to participate in
the production as members
of the Children's Chorus.
Audition details will be
made available in the New
Year. Snow White: The
Panto will entertain
theatregoers of all ages July
29 to Aug. 29.

Libro awards grant to
Huron's creative youth
Huron County youth will
now have more creative
opportunities thanks to a
new program funded by
Libro Credit Union. Imagine
Huron, a new program for
youth up to the age of 26 in
the creative fields of visual
arts, digital media and
music, will be implemented
in early 2015.
"We are really excited to
be implementing this pro-
gram with the support of
Libro Credit Union," says
project coordinator, Aaron
Neeb. "Libro Imagine Huron
will provide a much needed
boost to the youth talent that
exists in Huron County."
Libro Imagine Huron will
see the implementation of
four different enterprises
including a youth orchestra,
a music and arts festival, cul-
tural t -shirts and short docu-
mentaries about youth arts
in the County. These enter-
prises will focus on building
youth skills in entrepreneur-
ship and creativity.
"Championing and inspir-
ing our young people are
integral to our Community
Engagement Program," said
Liz Arkinstall, Libro Credit
Union Community
Engagement Manager. "Libro
Imagine Huron provides a
fantastic opportunity for our
youth to showcase their art-
istry and develop strong lead-
ership skills, as we focus on
growing regional prosperity."
To celebrate the creation
of Libro Imagine Huron, a
launch event took place on
December 27 at the Bayfield
Town Hall. The event, titled
"Holidaze" featured youth
musicians from across the
County including Three
Forkes, Among Giants,
Mikey Chuck Rivers, Emmett
O'Reilly and Charlie Weber.
All money raised will go
towards implementing
youth arts enterprises in
2015.
Imagine Huron will for-
mally begin in 2015. Any
youth who are interested in
taking part in the four enter-
prises should contact Neeb
at aneeb@smallbusinesshu-
ron.ca.
Imagine Huron was cre-
ated in partnership with
Libro Credit Union, The
Huron Business Develop-
ment Corporation and the
Huron Arts and Heritage Net-
work. Funding was received
from Libro Credit Union.
