The troupe, entitled Commedia DellArte (which means "art of the professional comedian"), performed a play called Fool's Gold. The comedy is about a greedy father selling his daughter's hand in marriage to wealthy count, despite the fact that she is in love with a poor man. Accompanied by a serv- ant tom between loyalties to both generations of the family, the play spirals into conflicts and laughs aplenty. The play was actually per- formed earlier that day for the school body of GDCI, and it has been noted that the troupe per- forms, on average, two tours during the school year. The thoroughly entertaining show was spearheaded by five actors of the troupe: Stephen Lafrenie, Arthur Burrows, Rachelle Casseus, David Langlois, and Geoffrey Armour. The heavy responsibility of helping back- stage fell onto the hands of Thom Speck. The cast of Fool's Gold had stated that acting in plays such as these is "like ballet and comedy at the same time:" The backdrop for this performance of Fool's Gold Jesse Le, Special to the Clinton News Record The cast of Fool's Gold along with the producers and stage manager after their second show. All other stage props were provided by R&R Staging. This play was co-produced by teachers Crystal BrennanYeo and David Armour (from St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School and GDCI respectively) as a fundraiser for the upcoming Sears Festival. This festival is a collaboration of eight different schools from all over the country to perform nine different shows. The festival itself will take place from March 26 to March 27 at GDCI. Tickets to the Sears Festival will be available in early January 2015.
