In order to complete the renovation various walls had to be
removed which involved using a crane and bringing in a new
beam to support the walls.
The new communications station at the Clinton Public Hospita
is complete. The new station is located on the first floor of the
hospital and is a welcome change as the nurses now have a
much larger and updated workspace. The renovations began in
September and were completed just this past week.
Pictured here is Dianne Miller, a RN at the Clinton Public Hospital
who says that she really likes the changes that have been made
to the communication station. Miller has worked at the hospita
for almost 39 years and, of all of the nurses, has been at the
hospital the longest.
Thompson backs Elliott for Ontario PC Leadership
On December 12 MPP
Lisa Thompson hosted PC
Leadership candidate and
MPP for Whitby -Oshawa
Christine Elliott in both Exe-
ter and Port Elgin.
"I am pleased to host Chris-
tine in the riding and allow
people an opportunity to
meet with her and under-
stand, if chosen as the next
Leader of the PC Party of
Ontario, how she will focus on
priority issues for Ontarians";
said Thompson.
During the visit to Huron -
Bruce, MPP Thompson
announced her support for
Christine Elliott for the leader
of the Ontario PC Party.
"I'm 100% confident in
Christine's commitment and
plans to turn this province
around. She is the
compassionate and principled
leader that our party and prov-
ince
rowince needs; said Thompson.
She added, "I find Christine to
be straight -forward and she
fully grasps how critical it is for
Ontario to address its fiscal
issues, in order to ensure Ontar-
io's energy sector is properly
managed, our local municipali-
ties are supported, and our
front line services are a priority"

Flu arrives in Huron County
Flu has officially arrived in
Huron County.
The first laboratory -con-
firmed case of Influenza A
has been reported to the
Huron County Health Unit.
There has also been a con-
firmed Influenza A outbreak
in a Huron County long-
term care facility.
The flu shot remains your
best protection against sea-
sonal influenza. Even
though it is a less than an
ideal match this year, the
vaccine can still provide
some protection against cir-
culating viruses.
In addition, it's important
to remember that the flu
vaccine contains three flu
viruses. When there is a less
than ideal match or lower
effectiveness against one
virus, the vaccine can still
protect against the other
viruses.
"The flu vaccine is strongly
recommended for everyone
6 months and older," says
Public Health Nurse Ruth
Ann Ogilvie. "By getting
immunized, you greatly
reduce your chances of
becoming ill with the flu. If
you do get sick, symptoms
will be milder."
Flu is a highly contagious
viral infection of the nose,
throat, and lungs. It causes
sudden fever, sore throat,
chills, dry cough, headache,
muscle aches, and fatigue.
Most people who get the flu
are sick for two to seven
days, but can feel tired and
weak for up to two weeks. In
some cases, the cough can
also last for weeks.
In seniors and people with
chronic health problems,
such as lung or heart disease
or diabetes, flu can lead to
complications such as
pneumonia.
Flu spreads very easily
from person to person in tiny
droplets from the nose and
throat. To reduce the risk,
you should:
• Wash your hands often
and thoroughly with soap
and hot water. If soap
and water are not avail-
able, use an alcohol -based
hand sanitizer.
• Sneeze or cough into
your sleeve or arm.
• Stay home if you're sick.
- Frequently clean com-
monly touched surfaces
such as keyboards,
doorknobs,
and countertops.
• Get your flu shot.

"After working with Chris-
