drivers having a tire burn-
out competition in Belgrave
caught the attention of a
Huron County OPP late last
month.
On Nov. 30 at approxi-
mately 2:00 a.m. a Huron OPP
officer heard the loud noise of
tires squealing nearby.
According to police, upon
arrival at the intersection of
Hamilton Street and Jane
Street the officer observed a
tire squealing show.
Groups of young people
had exited a house party and
were standing around watch-
ing two drivers doing burn-
outs. Two Honda Accords
were pushing off against each
other facing bumper -to -
bumper creating noise and
smoke.
When the investigating
officer arrived on scene both
drivers immediately stopped
and exited their respective
vehicles.
Police said the investigating
officer spoke with both drivers
and he observed that both
drivers were displaying sev-
eral signs that they were
impaired by alcohol.
Both drivers were placed
under arrest for impaired
Driving and were subse-
quently transported to the
Huron OPP Detachment for
breath tests. Both drivers pro-
vided samples of their breath
to a qualified intoxilizer Tech-
nician and both drivers regis-
tered readings above the legal
limit.
As a result, a 17 -year-old
male from Morris-Turnberry
and 18 -year-old male from
Huron East both were charged
with impaired driving and
underage drinking. He has a
court date scheduled for Janu-
ary 8, 2015 in Goderich.
Both have court dates
scheduled in Goderich early
next month. They also both
received automatic 90 -day
license suspensions and their
vehicles were impounded for
seven days
Traffic stop in Hensall
leads to impaired charges
BLUEWATER - A 25 -year-
old male driver from Zurich is
facing an impaired driving
charge following a traffic stop
on Nov 30.
According to police, at
approximately 1:15 a.m. a
Huron County OPP officer
stopped the driver of a Pon-
tiac Sunfire on King Street in
Hensall to conduct a sobriety
check on the driver.
Police said upon speaking
with the driver the officer
noted the driver had been
drinking alcohol. A roadside -
screening test was adminis-
tered and the driver registered
a fail. He was arrested and
subsequently transported to
the Exeter OPP detachment
for breath tests. He provided
two samples of his breath to a
qualified intoxilizer techni-
cian and both tests registered
over the legal limit.
As a result, the accused has
been charged with drive
motor vehicle - over 80 milli-
grams of alcohol.
He has a court appearance
scheduled in Exeter on Jan.
29. He received an automatic
90 -day driver's license sus-
pension and his motor vehicle
was impounded.
Fresh snowfall aids officer
with arrest
SOUTH HURON - A set of
fresh footprints in the snow
helped out an officer with an
arrest of an impaired driver in
Exeter this past weekend.
On Nov 29 a Huron County
OPP officer was patrolling on
Wellington Street West near
Main Street South in Exeter
when he observed a black
Lincoln leaving a licensed
restaurant.
The officer followed the
vehicle into a dead end alley-
way. The driver and passen-
ger of the vehicle immediately
exited the vehicle. T
According to police, the
passenger fled from the scene
however the officer was able
to locate the driver behind a
dumpster in the alley and the
fresh tracks in the snow
exactly matched the driver's
footwear.

driver the officer determined
the driver had been drinking
alcohol and his ability to oper-
ate a motor vehicle was
impaired by alcohol.
The driver was arrested for
impaired driving and was
transported to the Huron OPP

As a result, a 22 -year-old
Dashwood man has been
charged with impaired driving
and drive motor vehicle - over
80 milligrams of alcohol.
He is scheduled to appear
in Goderich court on Jan. 5,
2015.
Police say man was
impaired by drugs while
driving
ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-
WAWANOSH - Huron County
OPP has laid a charge of
Impaired Driving against a
54 -year-old male following a
motor vehicle collision.
According to police on
Nov. 28, 2014 Huron OPP
officers responded to the
intersection of Blyth Road
and Bluewater Veteran's
Highway to investigate a
two -vehicle collision.
A police investigation
ensued that revealed the
driver of a GMC Sierra
pickup truck entered onto
Bluewater Veteran's High-
way and collided with a Kia
FSX that was heading north.
The drivers of both vehi-
cles were uninjured however
the collision caused minor
damage to both vehicles.
Police said upon speaking
with the male driver of the
pickup truck police detected
the odour of marijuana com-
ing from the driver.
The investigating officer
completed a series of stand-
ard field sobriety tests
(SFST), which the driver
failed. The driver was
arrested and a drug recogni-
tion expert (DRE) completed
a further evaluation on the
driver's impairment. The
evaluation was completed
and it was deemed the driv-
er's ability to drive a motor
vehicle was impaired by a
drug.
As a result, the accused
male from Strathroy-Cara-
doc has been charged with
impaired driving. He has
been released from custody
with a court date scheduled
for Jan. 19 in Goderich.
Huron -Kinloss man faces
impaired charges
NORTH HURON - A
53 -year-old male from
Huron -Kinloss is facing an
over 80 charge following a
traffic stop on Nov 23.
According to police,
shortly after 3:00 a.m. a
Huron County OPP officer
stopped the driver of a GMC
Sierra pickup that was travel-
ling on Currie Line.
Police said upon speaking
with the driver police noted
the male had been drinking
alcohol. A roadside -screen-
ing test was completed and
the driver registered a fail.
He was arrested and subse-
quently transported to the
Huron OPP detachment for
breath tests. He provided
two samples of his breath to
a qualified intoxilizer techni-
