St. Anne's concert band travels to Blue Mountain Resort Varna news
Jesse Le
St. Anne's Catholic Secondary
School packed their instru-
ments and music onto a bus
and took off to the Blue Moun-
tain Resort near Collingwood,
Ontario. During the three-day
trip musical instructor, Dennis
Carpenter, would lead the band
through intensive practice and
fun activities.
The unique retreat provided
the students with breakfast at
the hotel and dinner at the dif-
ferent restaurants in the Blue
MountainVillage. The students
could spend their free time at
the Village purchasing clothing,
chocolate and candy or enjoy-
ing an 18 -hole mini -putt course
and a manually controlled
roller coaster. When the
weather got rainy students had
the option to lounge at their
hotel and make use of the
hotel's public pool and billiards
tables.
However, the main highlight
of the retreat was practicing
with and learning from
Carpenter.
Carpenter was a music
teacher with the Toronto Dis-
trict School Board and has
plenty of experience with
musical training. Before his
recent retirement his bands
performed at large venues,
such as Massey Hall, and he is
now a sought after band clini-
cian and adjudicator.
Now that the concert band
at St. Anne's has learned from
the best it is more than ready
for its upcoming perfor-
mances in December.

benefit the bureau at
Christmas time. Surpassing
last year's total of 85 pair

be greatly appreciated by
the players and executive!
