December 1 was World
AIDS Day. Our small rural
community has had our
share of families touched by
HIV/AIDS since the first case
in the world was officially
diagnosed in 1982. Huron
County HIV/AIDS Network
has been working at educa-
tion and support within
Huron County since 1992.
Twenty two years of support-
ing families affected by HIV,
finding current information
on treatment and connect-
ing newly diagnosed people
with agencies and medical
personnel who can assist
them with their future.
Twenty two years of speak-
ing to secondary school stu-
dents, church and commu-
nity groups about the HIV
virus...from a personal point
of view.
Over the years people
around the world have been
wearing the Red Ribbon, an
international symbol of
AIDS awareness to
