The 4th Annual Huron
County Warden's Charity
Golf Tournament was held at
the Seaforth Golf Course last
Friday. Around 60 golfers
enjoyed the game on the
windy but, nevertheless,
warm and sunny afternoon.
The annual golf
tournament was hosted by
Huron County's warden, Joe
Steffler. The main aim of the
event was to raise funds for a
worthy cause as well as to
provide local residents with
an opportunity to network
and socialize.
This year the tournament
was held in support of the
Huron County Food Bank
Distribution Centre
(HCFBDC), an organization
that acquires, stores and dis-
tributes food to the food
banks and aid agencies
located within Huron
County. The HCFBDC also
works alongside the Huron
County Health Unit. Last
year the tournament was
held in support of Habitat for
Humanity Huron County, a
non-profit, non-government,
incorporated charitable
organization dedicated to
improving the lives of eco-
nomically disadvantaged
persons.
Steffler and his team-
mates, namely, his wife and
treasurer of the Seaforth
Food Bank, Lin, his son,
John, and the secretary of the
Seaforth Food Bank, Linda
Kistner, teed off at 1 p.m.

and, despite it being his first
game of the season, Steffler
had a great first swing. Stef-
fler, also the deputy mayor of
the Municipality of Huron
East, called the tournament a
memorable one and thanks
everyone for their support of
the event.
Steffler was elected as
Huron County's warden by
Huron County Council last
December. As warden, he is
the executive officer of the
corporation and head of
County Council. His main
roles are to preside over
council meetings, provide
leadership to the council,
represent the municipality at
official functions and carry
out the duties of the head of
council under the Municipal
Act.
