Property rights advocate runs
for Mayor of Bluewater
Social media to play
key role in Cindy
Moyer's campaign
Cindy Moyer, a25 -year resident of Huron
County and founding member of the
Huron -Perth Landowners Association
wants to be Mayor of Bluewater and as the
only female challenger for the office
believes she has an advantage. 'I think there
is aplace for strongwomen in political lead-
ership and from what I am hearing, most
people agree,' she says
The Moyer4Mayor.com website sup-
ported by her new Facebook and Twitter
pages: Moyer4Mayor, expresses her views
on the state of Bluewater and lays out her
plans for the betterment of the community
as awhole.
'The Mayor of a municipality is a key
position,' explains Moyer. 'It is my belief if
rural Ontario wants to gain back some of its
power from Queen's Park, then we have to
start electing the right people for the job. We
need to think like aboss; who do we want to
head our municipal corporation and repre-
sent us at the county and provincial level?'
Moyer has impressive credentials in
community leadership, organization start-
up and executive management in both for-
profit and non-profit sectors. Under her
direction, the Huron -Perth Landowners
Association has grown exponentially in less
than three years and has successfully
undertaken projects that have directly
affected policy and regulation at provincial,
county and municipal level.
'Rural municipalities are struggling with
provincial downloading, claw backs in
funding and drowning in regulation that
makes sense for urban, but not rural
Ontario. The Green EnergyAct is an exam-
ple of legislation that has divided rural
Ontario like no other - and the math just
doesn't add up to the color green,' she says.
On what is most important for Bluewater,
Moyer is emphatic. Amalgamation has not
been good for us, but I see incredible poten-
tial in the people and the resources we
have. Ideas for the community are plentiful
and I want to be the conduit to help those
concepts become reality - and I have the
knowledge, experience and determination
to do it:
