With only three Sunday's remaining in
the 2014 live harness season at Clinton
Raceway harness fans are filling the stands
to take in the last of the racing action.
This past Sunday, as part of the live
racing card, Clinton Raceway welcomed
local students Will and Claire Fleming to
celebrate their bike across Canada this
past spring. The two set out in early April to
bike the 7650km with the hopes of raising
$1 for every kilometre biked. To date they
have raised over $41,000. They wrapped
up their fundraising efforts with bike raffle
at the races, adding over $500 to the total
for Canadian Tire Jumpstart.
Jumpstart was on hand to present the two
with a trophy for all of their success.
On track owner/trainer Denis Jewitt of
Wingham had a second place finish in
the first race of the days card with Kendal
Gucci. Kennairn Crystal was the post time
favourite in race three, managing a second
for owner/trainer Kris Haskell of Goderich
and driver Ryan Holliday. Live For Today,
owned by Catherine and Darcy McClure of
Clinton got away seventh in the firth race
but rounded out the triactor with Bruce
Richardson in the Driver's seat. Following
suit, race six was another third place finish
for McClure owned and trained, Eyes Of
A Fool. In race 8 it was Decroft Havaball
leading from the gate, holding on for a
second place finish for owner Clarence
Dekens of Clinton. L H Hollys Cam finished
by a neck for trainer Bob Anderson, and
owner Lois Anderson of Clinton in race 9.
Live racing resumes this Sunday, post time
