CENTRAL HURON - A 60
year old male is facing
a charge of Drive While
Under Suspension follow-
ing a traffic stop yester-
day morning. Just before
noon hour a Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) officer was patrol-
ling northbound on Blue -
water Veteran's Highway
when she encountered a
Volvo wagon travelling
southbound. The cruiser,
equipped with an Automatic
Licence Plate Recognition
(ALPR) computer device
sounded an alert after the
licence plate was captured
by the onboard camera. The
ALPR identified the attached
licence plate as being regis-
tered to a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was initi-
ated and it was confirmed
the driver held a sus-
pended driver's licence.
As a result, a 60 year old
male from Newmarket was
charged with Drive While
Under Suspension. He will
have to attend Provincial
Offences Court in Goder-
ich on September 2, 2014
to answer to the charge.
CENTRAL HURON - A 19
year old driver from Cen-
tral Huron swerved to avoid
a deer. He missed the deer,
however, in his attempt to
avoid the deer he put his
Toyota Highlander in the
ditch. Huron County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) offic-
ers responded to the motor
vehicle collision on Stone
School Line just after 5:00
a.m. on July 26, 2014.
A Huron County OPP Officer
spoke with the driver
and determined the nov-
ice driver had been con-
suming alcohol and had a
Blood Alcohol Concentra-
tion (B.A.C) above zero.
As a result, a 19 year old
male driver from Cen-
tral Huron was charged
with Novice Driver -
B.A.0 Above Zero.
As a reminder to all Nov-
ice and Young drivers, there
are stiff penalties for driving
a motor vehicle with a B.A.0
above zero. All drivers who
are 21 or under must have
a B.A.0 level of zero when
operating a motor vehicle.
If you are a novice driver
and are caught with any
amount of alcohol in your
blood, you will receive an
immediate 24-hour road-
side driver licence sus-
pension and if convicted,
could face a fine up to
$500 and receive a 30 day
licence suspension under
the novice driver escalat-
ing sanctions program.
If you are a fully licensed
young driver who is 21 years
and under and you are caught
with alcohol in your blood,
you will receive a 24 hour

roadside driver licence sus-
pension. If convicted you
could face a fine and a 30
day licence suspension.
BLUEWATER - A 32 year old
female driver is now fac-
ing a charge of Drive Motor
Vehicle with Over 80 Mil-
ligrams of Alcohol follow-
ing a traffic stop on July 26,
2014. Just after 2:30 a.m.
a Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) officer
stopped a Buick sedan in
Bayfield on Bayfield Ter-
race near Tuyll Street. Upon
speaking with the driver
the officer noted the driver
had been consuming alco-
hol. A roadside screen-
ing test was completed
and the driver registered a
fail. She was arrested and
transported to the Huron
OPP detachment for breath
tests. She provided two
samples of her breath to a
qualified Intoxilizer Techni-
cian and both tests regis-
tered over the legal limit.
As a result, a 32 year old
female from Goderich has
been charged with Drive
Motor Vehicle with Over
80 Milligrams of Alcohol.
She has court appearance
scheduled for August 25,
2014 at the Ontario Court
of Justice - Goderich.
The motor vehicle was
impounded and her driver's
licence has been automati-
cally suspended for 90 days.
