C A TOYOTA ABCE rain barrels now being distributed Huron Expositor It's rain barrel time. Ausable Bayfield Conservation, along with Rainbarrel.ca, has coordinated their region -wide distribution day for April 26. This year, for each $50 barrel pur- chased, $10 is given to a non-profit organ- ization, including a two in Huron East. For those purchased at the Vanastra Recreation Centre, funds will go to help cover the cost of building renovations, including a new ceiling in the pool area, new ceramic flooring in the change rooms and new washrooms, which will include a barrier free washroom for the Community Hall. Seaforth Public School is also partici- pating, with the money raised going to support their school yard naturalization and playground renewal projects. According to Rainbarrel.ca, getting more rain barrels in the area is one of the ideas in the Main Bayfield Watershed Plan, which was just released by a com- munity advisory committee. Stormwater runoff, which was identi- fied as one of the challenges in the plan- ning process, can carry a variety of pollut- ants with it. These pollutants can eventually make their way into the Bay- field River and into Lake Huron. Rain barrels are used to catch and store rainwater collected from a building's roof through downspouts. The water is then diverted from stormwater systems, which reduces the pollutants and the speed of water entering local rivers and streams. Reducing the speed of water takes away its ability to cause erosion. Collected rainwater can then be used for gardening, which can save money on municipal water bills, as well as reduce stress on wells and stormwater infrastructures. Prices begin at $50 per barrel. A variety of optional items including flexible downspout pipes, downspout diverters, rain barrel stands, dispensing hose and additional lengths of overflow hose can also be purchased. Those picking up rain barrels are asked to bring the receipt to the sale event in order to claim their products. For more information, visit rainbarrel. ca/bayfieldblitz. Vanastra Recreation Centre rain barrel distribution will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., April 26 at 26 Toronto Blvd., Vanastra. Only barrels ordered in advance are guar- anteed to be available. Call 519-482-3544 or email lfalconer@ huroneast.com or shaneandbecky@tcc. on.ca for information not available on the website or if you need assistance with online ordering. Seeking Huron -Bruce NDP domination CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 10 "There are spending limits for political parties when it comes to winning a Riding, and $1.2 billion reaches way over the mark," said Laurie in the press release. Speaking on Tim Hudak and the Con- servatives Party, Laurie cautioned voters about "simplistic poorly thought-out solu- tions, and frightening attitudes towards privatization, and towards the workers of our province." "Hudak always has a quick -and -simple black -and -white solution for every issue, Laurie said. " I have confidence that the voters of Huron -Bruce understand the complexity of issues on the table and won't fall for dumbed -down politics." In the press release, Laurie called on voters to look to the NDP in Huron -Bruce to unite progressives in this riding. "The folks in Huron -Bruce deserve a party that puts their needs first. They are looking for a party that puts the challenges facing families on the public agenda" Lau- rie stated. "They are looking for a party that will govern differently and with vision. And they want a govemment that is finan- cially accountable with their hard-eamed tax dollars:' Huron Bruce NDP will announce its nomination meeting within the next few weeks. wmexetertoyota ca EXETER TOYOTA' Over 40 Pre -Owned in O_ , t ON SALE (710 2ul0 'FOWL VEN2AAWD PREMIUM P'i G 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA SIFT 700 TOYOTAC4MaT HYRRID..,THR.
