HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News Record, 2014-04-23, Page 9► POLICE BRIEFS Body of missing Waterloo male found on Goderich beach Just after 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police officers and Goderich Fire Department members responded to the Rotary Cove Beach in Goderich to recover a human body found in Lake Huron. Witnesses walking near the shoreline spot- ted the body in the ice and water a short dis- tance from the shore. Police have since identified the remains as 51 -year old Andrew Quinn. Huron County OPP and Waterloo Regional Police Service commenced a search for the missing Waterloo male on November 26, 2013. His vehicle was found in Goderich parked on Cove Road. This led to an extensive search of the waterway and shoreline. A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Saturday at London Health Sciences Cen- tre in London. LACEANADI Wednesday, April 23, 2014 • News Record 9 Benmiller deck collapse sends five to hospital Shortly before 1 p.m. Easter Sunday Huron County Ontario Provincial Police officers, Goderich Fire Depart- ment members and Huron County EMS responded to the Benmiller Inn & Spa located on Benmiller Line after receiving a call for assistance. A group of 16 patrons were 17th Annual Hayfield Lions gathering outside of the restaurant on a wooden deck to a take a family photo. As the group was posing for photos the north end of the deck col- lapsed causing some of the family members to fall approximately 10 feet to the ground below. Five injured were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The inju- ries sustained are all considered to be minor in nature. The Ontario Ministry of Labour will be attending the scene to continue the investigation.
