In September 2012, the board approved the current four-year strategic plan, which included the introduction of a new mission statement and re -visioning of goals and core priorities. The board is pleased to announce that nominations for the Always Learning Awards (formerly the Key Contribution Awards), are now open for 2014. The board's mission statement is "Engage, Inspire, Innovate ...Always Learning" and the Strategic Plan states that We will create positive, inclusive learning environments and maximize student outcomes. We will work toward that by valuing our students, our staff, our families and our communities using principles of character, equity and sustainability. The plan will be the primary consideration when someone is nominated for an "Always Learning Award". Awards will be presented to individuals or groups who have gone above and beyond to engage, inspire Sun rises over Easter service in Varna Varna News Joan Beierling An Easter Sunrise Service was held in the Brucefield Community United Church on Sunday followed by a Sun Rise Breakfast. The regular Church Service was held at 10:30 with Colin Snyder leading the Service. The Choir favoured everyone with an Anthem "He Lives Jack and Geraldine Eckel were wished a happy 55th wedding anniversary and birthday wishes were extended to Samantha Chuter and Sandra Turner both with Birth- days on Sunday April 20. Next Sunday April 27 is Camping Sunday. Please come for a special worship service celebrating our Camp Ministries. Canadian Tire money and items from Camp Menese- tung's Wish List will be collected for the camp; See the facebook page for wish list items. Between Sunday School funds and the congregation's efforts they were able to sent 114 packages of sunflower seeds. The Varna Community will be hosting a bridal shower for Stacey Consitt (daughter of Brenda and Scott) who is marrying Cody Anderson on July 19 2014. Huron County Crimestoppers want info on Central Huron B&E Signal Star staff CENTRAL HURON - Huron County Crime Stoppers and the Huron County OPP would like the assistance of the public in helping solve a break and enter to a residence in Clinton. Huron OPP officers are currently investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred in Clinton sometime over the course of the last few months. On April 1, Officers were alerted to the residential break-in. Police learned that the owners returned home from an extended trip down south to find their home had been entered and ransacked. The thieves entered the residence sometime between the end of November 2013 and the end of March 2014. The thieves stole a 52" flat screen Panasonic television, antiques, jewelry, collectable coins and stamps. The value of the stolen goods is believed to be an estimated $4000. HURON EAST - Huron County Crime Stoppers and the Huron County OPP would like the assistance of the public in helping solve a break and enter to a residence in Huron East. Huron OPP officers are currently investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred on Krauter Line. The crime took place sometime between April 9 and April 11. Those responsible entered through an unlocked garage door. Once inside the garage they stole several items including: • Five new "Mickey Thompson" rims and tires. • A black Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Soft top • Two Husqvarna chainsaws • A 3200 watt generator • And a snow blower The value of the stolen goods is an estimated at $10,000.
