To top it all off, the Blyth Centre for the Arts is marking its 40th Season as a venue for quality Canadian theatre. So with all of this to celebrate, the Blyth Festival Singers present the inaugural event of the 40th season, I Dreamed of Rain - a contemporary concert about water and life, on the stage of the Blyth Centre for the Arts. Musical guests are the St. Marys Children's Choir (SMCC) and Festival Youth Singers, a community ensemble that fosters excellence in choral music. Over its 33 -year history, more than 700 young people have participated in its training programs. SMCC teaches singing technique, musicianship skills and a passion for performance through a modern and broad range of repertoire. This season the choir presents The SMCC Singers and introduces a new choir format that helps choristers and families to access all the benefits of group music making in commitment levels that fit their schedules. SMCC welcomes children and youth of all ages and all levels of vocal training. All the Little Rivers was actually commissioned for the SMCC Singers only a few years ago. Expect a number of Canadian pieces, as well as songs with an environmental motif! The 40 -strong Blyth Festival Singers with their contemporary and Canadian repertoire, and the contrasting choral sounds of youthful voices are sure to make an amazing combination, so you won't want to miss this concert. I Dreamed of Rain begins at 3:00 pm on April 13 at the Blyth Centre for the Arts. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children five to 12.
