Spring is around the corner, Earth
Day celebrations are imminent and,
onlyrecently, World Water Week was
being commemorated.
To top it all off, the Blyth Centre for
the Arts is marking its 40th Season as a
venue for quality Canadian theatre.
So with all of this to celebrate, the Blyth
Festival Singers present the inaugural
event of the 40th season, I Dreamed of
Rain - a contemporary concert about
water and life, on the stage of the Blyth
Centre for the Arts.
Musical guests are the St. Marys
Children's Choir (SMCC) and Festival
Youth Singers, a community ensemble
that fosters excellence in choral
music.
Over its 33 -year history, more than
700 young people have participated in
its training programs.
SMCC teaches singing technique,
musicianship skills and a passion for
performance through a modern and
broad range of repertoire.
This season the choir presents The
SMCC Singers and introduces a new
choir format that helps choristers and
families to access all the benefits of
group music making in commitment
levels that fit their schedules.
SMCC welcomes children and youth
of all ages and all levels of vocal
training.
In keeping with the mandate of the
theatre, the centrepiece of the concert
will be a joint performance with the
