Online condolences may be left at www.mcburneyfuneralhome.com SHIRLEY ANN ISABEL (nee JOHNSTON) CLARK Shirley Ann Isabel (nee Johnston) Clark passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Dec. 14, 2017. She was in her 71st year. Shirley was the beloved wife of Keith for 40 years, loving mom of Edward and Kathy and adoring grandma of Colban. Shirley was the sister of Allan and Bernice Johnston, Larry and Helen Johnston and Irene and Kelly Bennett. She was the sister-in-law of Don and Darlene Fischer and Bruce and Anne Clark. She will be fondly remembered by Rob Herd and missed by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by parents Hugh and Malinda, sisters Linda Fischer, Joyce Colyer and brother Walter Johnston. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received for visitation on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 1 - 2 p.m. at Brussels United Church with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brussels United Church would be appreciated. MURRAY GERRIE Murray Gerrie of Wingham, passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. He was in his 83rd year. Murray was the beloved husband of Frances (Merkley) Gerrie, Wingham and cherished father of Pam and Dave Tiffin and Brad and Rachelle Gerrie, all of Wingham Murray will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Brittany Tiffin and Jesse, Greg Tiffin, Brigitte and Justin Wagner, Alex Gerrie and Connor Gerrie. He was the dear brother of Donna Moores, Bowmanville and Penny Gerrie, Toronto and the brother-in-law of Terry and Linda Merkley, Wingham; John and Betty Merkley, Oakville and Barbara Merkley, Guelph. Murray was predeceased by his parents Harry and Ethel (Bell) Gerrie, brothers Lionel Gerrie, Gerald and Connie Gerrie, sister Marion McCallum and brothers-in- law Trevor Moores and Raymond Merkley. Visitation was held at McBurney THOMAS MAYNE After a short battle with cancer, Mr. Thomas Michael Mayne of Listowel, passed away at Victoria Hospital, London, on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. He was in his 64th year. Thomas was the husband of the late Jackie (Hicks) Mayne (2014), father of Melanie and Roger Thackeray, Goderich; Jeff and Rebecka Mayne, Tottenham and Justin Mayne, Listowel. He was grandfather of Abigale and Avery Thackeray and Byron Mayne. Thomas was the son of Joe Mayne, Arthur and the late Elaine (deceased 2009). He was the brother of Eleanor and John Morris, Elora; Vince Mayne, Elora; Joan and Pete Keeling, Markdale; Marilyn and Wayne Bridge, Fergus; Maureen and Scott Campbell, Ottawa and Chris Funding for gas line denied By Denny Scott The Citizen Funding for a gas line from Blyth to Auburn was not approved by the province according to North Huron Reeve Neil Vincent. During council's Dec. 18 meeting, Vincent said that the project, which would run a Union Gas line from Blyth to Auburn, allowing other roads and properties to tie in along the way, did not receive the nod for provincial funding. He said two other local projects were also turned down. "It's one of those things," he said. The family funeral service was be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 16. Rev. Fr. Keith Morrison officiated.
