Wild winter weather leads to school cancellations

WALTON

It had been quite a week in the
area. It was a bit blustery, which
caused two days of school
cancellations. Cold air arrived and
then the wind followed. It was
stormy, or at least snowy, on Friday
and it was a great night to cozy up to
the warm fire and stay in.
The arrival of snow prompts a
reminder for all rural folks to
remember when blowing snow,
don't forget the mailbox! Mail
carriers need a clear approach path
and drive -away path. Mail carvers
do not have a six-foot reach across
three feet of car and then across
three feet of snow to the box. Keep it
clear and you will have mail! It may
be a little late these days as the
volume of Christmas packages has
increased dramatically because of
online shopping.
Congratulations to Glenn and
Marilyn Beuerman on the birth of
another grandchild. Proud parents
are daughter Allison and husband
Kyle McNichol of Edmonton,
Alberta. They have welcomed a little
girl named Malinda James and will
be welcomed home by big brothers
Kale and Ryker. Jim and Danica
McNichol are the other set of happy
grandparents. An early Christmas
present for all!
Our sympathies are extended to
the family of Shirley (Johnston)
Clark on her passing. She will be
missed by her husband Keith and
children Edward and Kathy and
grandson Colban. She will also be
missed by her siblings Alan, Larry
and Irene. Shirley was a lovely little
lady who loved to help people
whenever she could. You would see
her walking downtown most
everyday and loved to stop and talk
with all. Our condolences to the
Clark and Johnston families.
The Walton Hall was the venue for
the Cronin family Christmas. They
held their party on Saturday and
hosts Tom and Lynn Cronin
welcomed approximately 40 people
for the meal and festivities. They
enjoyed the hall and commented it
was perfect for their needs.
We would like to wish all a Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks to all who provide me with
news tips throughout the year and
we hope you all have a joyous time
with family over the holidays!
