Museum, library host volunteer recognition lunch

Congram speaks at fall rally
The fall rally of the Huron Perth
Women's Presbyterial was held
earlier this year at Avonton
Presbyterian Church . The theme
was "We are One" Prayer opened
the rally, followed by a welcome
from the host minister Rev.
Catherine Calkin and by
Avonton WMS President Jean
Aitcheson.
The WMS purpose was recited in
unison and hymns were sung during
the day with added commentary
baaout theh istory of each hymn.
Ladies who attended the
"Women's Gathering" gave an
interesting account of the
conference. Jean Aitcheson was the
morning speaker with her
presentation "Quilt of Belonging".
She showed many quilt blocks from
different countries.
Rev. Rob Congram was the
afternoon speaker. His topic was
"Healing and Reconciliation." He
told of the problems with the
residential school systems.
The ladies who attended the
Synodical gave their reports.
President Ruth Hart informed
members of upcoming events to be
marked on their calendars. Prayer
closed the meeting.

On Monday, Dec. 4, Huron
County's Cultural Services
Department said "thank you" to
some of the 160 community
volunteers who helped out
and supported the two organizations
in 2017.
Cultural Services Director and
Acting CAO Meighan Wark noted
that volunteers at the museum and
library contributed a staggering
4,000 hours in the past year. Huron
County Warden Jim Ginn offered his
thanks and praise to the volunteers,
mentioning that volunteering goes
hand-in-hand with building strong
and resilient communities.
The Huron County Museum
and Historic Gaol's volunteers
participate in activities including
research, cataloging artifacts,
collections management, transcrib-
ing documents, gardening, customer
service, Behind the Bars cast, and
they also help to organize and
execute many successful events!
Huron County Library volunteers
help out at the 12 branches located
throughout the county by assisting
with programming, organizing
fundraising events, and helping staff
with some of the day-to-day
operations at the branch such a
shelving books.
The Huron County Museum
and Huron County Library welcome
new volunteers. If you would like

NH sets 2018 meetings

The Citizen
North Huron Township Council
set its regular meeting schedule for
2018 during its Dec. 4 meeting.
The schedule includes two
months, January and August, where
council will only have one meeting.
The decision to limit meetings
during those months is due to
municipal conferences that would
conflict with second meetings.
The 2018 schedule for regular
North Huron Council meetings is:
Jan. 15, Feb. 5, Feb. 20, March 5,
March 19, April 3, April 16, May 7,
May 22, June 4, June 18, July 9,
July 23, Aug. 13, Sep. 4, Sep. 17,
Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Nov. 5, Nov. 19,
Dec. 3 and Dec. 17.
The 2018 schedule is subject to
change. All regular council meetings
are set to take place in Wingham at
the North Huron Council Chambers
at 7 p.m. unless otherwise specified
by council.
