The white stuff has arrived. Well,
then it goes away and then comes
back, but it is November, so get your
boots out.
Ralph has returned from a visit
with cousin Barry in Arizona where
there was no snow and the
temperature was in numbers we no
longer comprehend. Barry and Josie
are coping with the aging process
but with family next door are fine.
At the Branch
When Ralph and Barry got
together, the stories of cars and parts
and trees and barns and tractors start
to fly. so I'm sure many episodes of
life in 1950 Morris Township flew.
One of the privileges of aging is
time, time to choose, time to ponder,
time to do as you wish. For Barry
and Ralph it was a good time.
Life in small communities can be
quite busy and choices need to be

The week around the Brussels
Legion Branch started with the
Brussels Lions meeting on Monday
evening. They held an invite -a -guest
night. There were 40 people in
attendance to enjoy a roast beef
dinner. The meeting was held
following the dinner.
The Branch was saddened by the
news of the passing of Ken Bird.
Ken had been a member of the
Branch for more than 20 years and
was a great guy. He provided the
Branch with fresh vegetables every
fall, worked at fish fry meals and
participated in Legion darts
competitions at most levels over the
years. Our condolences to his wife
Linda, daughter Krista and family. A
come -and -go social will be held at
the Branch on Sunday, Nov. 26 in
memory of Ken.
The Thursday night darts had 13
darters out to play. Winners were:
first, John Stadelmann and Penny
Reynolds; second, Gord Jacklin and
Sheron Stadelmann; high, Sheron,
125 and John, 112; high start,
Catrina Josling, 71 and Roger
McHardy, 75. Come out and play
anytime.
It was a busy weekend at the
Branch. The men's Huron County
darts had their day of play on
Saturday. Over 40 men enjoyed the
day and the food provided by
Comrade Deb Cann. Comrades Jo-
Ann and Judy were kept busy doing
prep work for Sunday.
The Branch was the recipient of a
donation from the A.B.A.T.E.
Chapter 14 group on Saturday
afternoon. The group of a dozen
members gathered at the Branch and
presented a cheque to Comrade Jo-
Ann McDonald in the absence of
Comrade Jamie. They raised the
funds through hosting pub nights
and other events with the purpose of
donating to the Legion for the
accessibility project. Our many
thanks to the A.B.A.T.E. group and
Joe Dewartz for the presentation.
Saturday evening was trivia night
hosted by Comrades Sandra Josling
Brown and Carina Josling. They
only had two teams playing for the
night and the first place team was a
team named Trivia Newton John
from Wingham and the second place
team was called Another Round on
the House. Everyone reports that
they had a great time and a lot of
fun. Comrade Jim Brown was in
charge of cooking wings for the
group.
The Branch hosted the memorial
service for the late Wayne Jacklin on
Sunday afternoon. The family
welcomed a large group of family,
friends, neighbours and co-workers
for the afternoon social gathering.
Comrades Nanci Ducharme, Jamie
Mitchell, Catrina Josling, Jo -Ann
McDonald and Julie Jutzi helped
with the service.
