Living Water Christian Fellowship marks final service
The last supper
Living Water Christian Fellowship held its final regular
service earlier this month at the home of Herb and Bonnie
Shannon. The congregation thanked Pastor Ernest Dow for
his years of hard work and dedication. (Photo submitted)
Living Water Christian Fellowship
held its final regular worship service
on Sunday, Nov. 5 at the home of
Herb and Bonnie Shannon. Pastor
Ernest Dow welcomed everyone and
opened the service with prayer
followed by the singing of "Jesus
Loves Even Me".
Everyone's attention was drawn to
the announcements in the bulletin.
Prayer time followed which
included each other's special prayer
requests and praise items. Pastor
Ernest is now scheduled to speak at
the Nov. 19 service at Huron Chapel
in Auburn.
Pastor Ernest's sermon was
entitled, "It's All About Love". This
was the final message condensed
(with permission) from the "40 Days
of Love" series by Rick Warren.
During his message, Pastor Ernest
discussed several basics of Love: We
love because God loves us; Love is a
choice and a commitment; habit, we
must continue to love each other
with true Christian love. Pastor
Ernest said we must look to Jesus
and follow His example and trust in

God to help us. If we have love for
one another, we will prove to be
disciples of Jesus (John 13:35).
Pastor Ernest's introductory
question had been "What is your
number one goal in life? Is it to be
happy? Loved? To succeed at your
career? Have fun? To get married?
Raise a family? Be well known?
Have success? Have possessions,
power and wealth?" We read in 1
Cor. 14:1 that love should be our
greatest aim.
In conclusion Pastor Ernest
encouraged everyone to follow the
greatest commandment set out in
Mark12: 30-31, "Love the Lord your
God with all your heart, all your
soul, all your mind, and all your
strength ... love your neighbour as
yourself."
Following the message,
communion was served with elder
Harvey Snell assisting. Everyone
joined in the singing of the final
worship song, "Arms of Love". The
Apostles' Creed and Lord's Prayer
were said in unison.
Before pronouncing the
benediction, Pastor Ernest took a

few moments to say how it had been
a real honour and privilege to be able
to serve Living Water Christian
Fellowship for the last 16 years. He
thanked the congregation for its
support given to both him and
Yvonne during that time.
In response, Bonnie Shannon gave
a very fitting impromptu speech in
which she thanked Pastor Ernest for
his dedicated service not only to the
church but also she thanked him for
all his loving and caring actions in
the community. Bonnie captured the
sentiments of all present when she
said, "We know Jesus is the ultimate
example of love, but you, Ernest, by
allowing Jesus to work in and
through you, have shown us how a
human can and should really love."
She added, "You've always been
there to guide and shepherd us,
you've always been there supplying
us with whatever we needed at the
time, you've always been there."
Donna and Chris Palmer, on
behalf of the congregation, thanked
Bonnie and Herb for their warm
hospitality and offering their home
as a place for worship these past few
weeks. After the service, a
fellowship time was enjoyed by all.
