Obituaries

memorial visitation to celebrate
Maxine's life was held at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre, on Saturday,
Nov. 11. Funeral arrangements were
entrusted to McGlynn Family
Funeral Home, Seaforth.
Memorial donations to the
Seaforth Community Hospital or the
Children's Health Foundation are
appreciated and can still be made
through the funeral home.

Friends and family were received
at Riverside Funeral Home for
visitation on Friday, Nov. 10. The
funeral service was held on
Saturday, Nov. 11. Interment was in
Brussels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and as
expressions of sympathy, donations
to the Brussels Cemetery or the
Alzheimer Society of Huron County
would be appreciated.

MAXINE ALETHA HOUSTON
(NEE WATTS)
It is with heavy hearts and fond
memories that we announce to our
family and friends, the passing of
Maxine Aletha Houston (nee Watts)
of Brussels. Maxine passed suddenly
on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017. She was
in her 61st year.
Maxine was the beloved wife of
Murray Houston for 37 years and
loving mother of Jillian and Chris
Csoff and Darryl and Jodi Houston.
She was the cherished grandma of
Emmett and Eli and dear daughter of
Barbara Watts (nee Benson) and the
late Max Watts (July 9, 2017).
Maxine was the loved sister of
Stephanie and Murray Kellington,
David and Chris Watts, Trina and
Brad McBride, Darrin Watts, and
Ruth Ann and Kim Schroeder; sister-
in-law of Robert and Linda Houston,
Glenna Houston, and Janice and
Gord Carnochan; dear niece of
Stephen and Judy Watts and Jean
MacKinnon and loving aunt to her
many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was predeceased by her
father Max, parents-in-law Lois and
Rae Houston, and her sister-in-law
Brenda Mathers and her husband
Dennis.
Cremation has taken place and a
private graveside service was held in
VERNON ELLIOTT "PAL"
SOMERS
Vernon Elliott "Pal" Somers
passed away peacefully at Wingham
& District Hospital on Nov. 8, 2017.
He was in his 75th year.
Pal was the brother of George and
Fannie; uncle of Ross (Judy), Rick
(Deb), Randy (Tammie) and Janice
(Bill) Smith; uncle -in-law of Dianne
and great-uncle of many great-
nieces and -nephews. Pal will be
sadly missed by furry friend Charlie.
He was predeceased by his parents
Verna and William Somers and
nephew Roger.
Pal loved to talk and listen. He had
WAYNE DOUGLAS JACKLIN
Wayne Douglas Jacklin passed
away peacefully surrounded by his
family at Seaforth Community
Hospital on Nov. 6, 2017. He was in
his 70th year.
Wayne was the loving dad of
Shawn (Melissa) and Sharie (Mark),
adoring papa to Ted, Ben and Joe
and beloved grandpa of Darren
and Justin. He was the brother of
Gord (Debbie), Don and Marlene
(Brian). Wayne was predeceased
by his parents Lawrence and Elaine
and stepmother Mildred, two
brothers in infancy and sister-in-law
Joyce.
Wayne was devoted to his family
and was the number one hockey fan
of his grandsons. Cremation has
taken place.
Friends and family are invited to a
come -and -go celebration of Wayne's
life at the Royal Canadian Legion,
Brussels Branch 218 on Sunday,
Nov. 19 from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers and as
expressions of sympathy, donations
to the Royal Canadian Legion,
Brussels Branch 218 or the Seaforth
Community Hospital would be
appreciated.

DAVID JOHN "DAVE"
CHALMERS
David John `Dave' Chalmers, a
resident of Bothwell and formerly of
Wallaceburg, Walpole Island, Blyth
and Corunna, died peacefully at
Four Counties Health Services in
Newbury on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017.
He was 76.
Dave was the son of the late
Robert `Bob' and Anne (Benninger)
Chalmers He was the loved brother
of Jim (Joan), Blyth; Richard
(Audrey), Victoria, BC; Mary (Ken
Phillips), Lucknow and the late
Wallace Chalmers (Gail),
Kincardine.
A private family service will be
held at Blyth Cemetery at a later
date. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the Haycock -
Cavanagh Funeral Home,
Wallaceburg.
If desired, remembrances to the
Canadian Cancer Society may be
left at the funeral home at 519-627-
