The weather is so great one day
and then the next just the opposite.
Lots of corn is coming off and the
farmers are busy. The rain puts a
stop to many, providing a chance to
take a rest.
Congratulations to Barmy Tech on
25 years in business. Dorothy
Cummings began her business in her
home before moving to the Walton
school in 2000. She has employed
up to three ladies at a time and her
business has expanded from
reusable cloth bags to much, much
more. Dorothy held an open house to
celebrate and a constant stream of
folks dropped in for coffee and cake.
Congratulations to Dorothy.
Watch out for running deer come
Monday as the first full week of
November is always deer hunting
season. Deer are already running
rampant; ask the many folks who
have had close encounters, near
misses and yes, have hit deer. The
name McDonald seems to go with
deer encounters. LeeAnn narrowly
missed a deer last week but Jim
McDonald was not so lucky and
suffered damage to his truck because
of a collision. Eyes open everyone!
Walton Hall was the place for the
Chesley Saddle Club's annual
meeting and pot luck meal
last weekend. Over 20 enjoyed
the evening of visiting and

A company effort
To mark 25 years in business, Barmy Tech, a Walton business that focuses on canvas
creations and projects, held an open house on Saturday. Cutting the anniversary cake are,

Turbine study seeks participants
Recruitment has begun for the
Huron County wind turbine study
about noise, vibration, and light.
Residents of Huron County who
live within 10 kilometres of a wind
turbine are eligible to participate.
There is no limit on the number of
eligible participants who can
register for the study.
Eligible participants can sign up
until Oct. 1, 2018.
We want to hear from those who
do and do not have difficulties with
wind turbines so we can look at
differences between the two groups.
Participation involves returning a
completed consent form, doing the
registration survey and completing
the observation diary. The Health
Unit is asking participants to
complete the observation diary at
least one week every month during

The day is not over yet as the
spooky fries and bat wings
Halloween party was held Saturday
evening. There were about 40 people
attending the evening. There were
lots of Halloween decorations and a
half dozen donned costumes for the
evening. Prizes were awarded to
four individuals, including the tooth
fairy, wicked witch, a biker babe and
a hippie. Lost Highway provided
music and karaoke was enjoyed by
all. Comrade Lisa Glanville and
Joan Smith were the cooks.
The week finally came to a close
with the Sunday night dance.
Seventy people enjoyed the music of
the Country Versatiles and there
were five people brave enough to
dress up. They received prizes for
their efforts.
The help dressed as 1920 dance
girls and a witch and had
many comments on how nice they
looked.

The Walton Hall was also the
place to host a birthday party this
weekend. Local resident Mike
Wattam celebrated his partner's
birthday.
Congratulations to John and Carol
Boneschansker who celebrated their
63rd wedding anniversary on the
weekend. They had the family gather
at their home for a meal and family
time. Nearly 30 were able to attend.
Congratulations to the family!
Our sympathies are extended to
Glenn Bridge and family on the
passing of Jean Bridge. She will be
missed by Bob and Scott and their
families. Jean liked fun and always
had a good time when out and about.
Many will remember her from her
days of working at the Brussels post
office, where lively conversation and
fun was enjoyed by those picking up
their mail. She will be missed by all.
Our condolences to the Bridge
family.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week includes Teresa Baan, Tanner
Leslie, Dan Taylor, Megan Flaxbard,
Murray Dennis, Douglas Wey, Carol
McLachlan, Shannon McGavin,
John Steffler, Brianna Williamson,
Liam Sutcliffe, Brent Alexander,
MacKenzie McGavin, Janine Knight
and Davis Steffler. Happy birthday
to all.

HYDRANT
FLUSHING NOTICE
As part of regular system maintenance,
Veolia Water Canada will be conducting
a hydrant and main flushing program
during the hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
from Monday, November 6, 2017 to
Friday, November 17, 2017. This
procedure could result in the
discolouration of your water. It is
recommended that all customers check
their water for rust prior to use each day
as discolouration of laundry, etc. could
occur. Running a cold water tap until the
discolouration has cleared is advised.
Thank you for your co-operation.
