Proposed tiny homes could be rented to support CCRC There's no place Tiny homes, classified by a could provide a reprieve for every year, according to B courtesy of RowdyKitten, Flickr) Continued from page 24 movement and generated interest. 14/19's board hopes to pair each house with a corporate sponsor, providing to them naming rights as well as some design influences. Blyth Cowbell Brewing Company has already signed on for the first tiny house. The houses would likely be predominantly used by visiting artists who are running programs at the CCRC, Stewart said, as those projects are designed to be more intensive. The programs could last between three days and three weeks and being on-site and having that kind of housing would likely be preferable for the artists. When not in use, they could find use as rental properties, helping to fund the CCRC. When the project was originally pitched, there was discussion of more than two tiny houses and Stewart says that is still the plan. "We're hoping to have a community of tiny houses," she said. "That is the long-term goal." Right now, however, 14/19 Inc. doesn't have the land or the resources to start the project which could include eight to 10 tiny houses somewhere other than the CCRC grounds in the community. "There are ideas floating around like (a tiny) home Canadian advocacy group as any structure under 500 square feet, organizations like the Blyth Festival who search for accomodations lyth Arts and Cultural Initative 14/19 Inc. representatives. (Photo about where they could be put, but reality and practicality of the suggestions need to be assessed," she said. When it does come time to proceed with the project, she said the organization's board will consider community partner- ships as well as designs that will fit the area where the • Addition • Renovatio • Roofing • Siding • Soffit and Fascia • Windows and Doors monk L i.! Currently, there is a committee for the proposed community that includes noted historical architectural consultant Thor Dingman as well as Huron County planners. The proposed tiny house community isn't quite shovel -ready, Stewart said, however, she said if land became available and the project could go forward the committee could mobilize very quickly. Stewart said the 10 -structure community would draw not just on the area around it, but the village of Blyth as a whole for its design and provide another reason for people to visit the village. "Blyth is a creative community that is different and fun and this would provide different accommodations," she said.
