(Shawn Loughlin photo) MacLellan commends effort of HE IPM team Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan had a lot of gratitude to hand out at council's Oct. 3 meeting, the first meeting after the International Plowing Match (IPM) in Walton. MacLellan said he was thanked frequently when he was at the IPM grounds. He said Brian McGavin thanked him for all he did for the IPM. However, MacLellan said that none of what he was being thanked for were things he had done directly. Those thanks, MacLellan said, were for the work of Huron East staff and the Public Works Department, which were working around the clock on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the IPM to try and negate the effects of Tuesday's downpour. The work being done by the department over the five days of the match and beyond, MacLellan said, was second to none and Chief Administrative Officer Brad Knight should be very proud of what he and his staff accomplished in Walton. He said that in the face of adversity because of the weather on Tuesday and Wednesday, the staff members were always on their toes and what they accomplished was very much appreciated by those running the IPM. MacLellan's second thank -you went to Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley, who was the architect of the municipality's tent at the match. The municipality went out on a limb to host its own tent, even though it had a barn in the Huron County Showcase and MacLellan said it proved to be a great decision for the municipality. an average price of $167.25.
