Happy Thanksgiving to all. We've
had a wonderful stretch of weather
for all to enjoy getting outside,
projects done or yard work or maybe
just sitting and relaxing in the warm
temperatures. Hopefully time spent
with family was enjoyed by many.
Things moved right along at the
International Plowing Match (IPM)
site last week with almost all the
buildings being removed. There is
still one large and one small coverall
building to go but the rest are gone.
The modules have been removed
and even the sand area for the
dancing tractors has been scooped
up and removed.
A tidbit of interesting info from
the IPM concerned the lunch crew.
The crew was co-chaired by Anne
Bosman, Val Pethick and Val Bolton.
The ladies had an exceptional crew
of near 50 helpers to assemble the
lunches. The lunches were for the
plowing competitors, tractor drivers
and judges and others. Over the
course of the match, they made
4,700 sandwiches. A lunch included
two sandwiches, apple, carrots and
celery, dessert such as rice krispie
square or cookie and a bottle of
water. The crew worked as a well-
oiled machine and the lunches were
delivered to the field every day on
time. Just a little insight into one of
the committees of the plowing
match.
Our get -well wishes go to Jean
Bridge as she is a patient in Seaforth
Hospital. We hope she is feeling
better soon.
Our sympathy is extended to the
family of Rob Burkholder on his
passing. He will be missed by his
wife Kathy and his children Chris
and Rob and their families. He will
also be missed by the Burkholder
families and the extended Elliott

families. Rob was a long-time
employee of Westcast until he began
his courageous battle with cancer.
He loved to restore old cars and
loved his time with his
grandchildren. Our condolences to
all.
Our congratulations to Ava
McCutcheon as she continues her
amazing journey in dance. She and
her mother Holly have just returned
from South Africa and Ava was a
winner again. She was dancing as a
member of the Team Canada dance
team at the Commonwealth Dance
Championships at Sun City, South
Africa. She placed first in all her
solo competitions and advanced to
the combination finals. She finished
with a silver medal for her solo
routine and won gold in the group
presentation. Way to go Ava!
Ava has now started her
fundraising campaign to raise the
necessary funds for her next dancing
adventure. She is to go to Sitges,
Spain to compete in the World Cup
as a member of the World
Performers of Canada team in June.
Watch for Ava or her parents as they
fundraise for her next adventure.
Our sympathies are extended to
the family of Adam Smith on his
passing. Adam had suffered a
serious fall at the end of June and
succumbed to his injuries this past
week. He will be missed by his wife
Kae and his children David and
Francis and their families.
Adam was born and raised in the
Brussels area and farmed in his early
married life. An accident on the farm
resulted in a broken back and put an
end to farming. They moved to town
to raise their family and retire. Adam
will be missed by his many siblings,
friends and the extended Smith
families. Our sympathies to all.
Many families gathered to
celebrate Thanksgiving on the
weekend, but our family gathered
for another reason. It was my
mother's 90th birthday on
Thanksgiving Monday. We held an
open house at Mitchell's Ritz Villa
where she is a resident. Those
attending enjoyed cake, punch and a
visit during the afternoon. The
family then enjoyed dinner together
to celebrate the dual occasion. A
