It's the most wonderful time of the

Christmas. Rather autumn is my

performance of a lifetime. The
Ghost Town Blues Band from
Memphis, Tennessee performed at
the school for 250 music and arts
students.
The Ghost Town Blues Band are
Memphis' latest success story and
are currently on a full-scale North
American tour. In 2014, the band
won second place at the
international blues challenge in
Memphis. This band is not your

of transformation and change.
Children have been in school for a
month, routines are beginning to feel
settled and we are back into our
groove of weekly programs and
activities. When we look around,
creation is in a constant state of
change. The ground is beginning to
harden as it prepares for winter, the
trees are beginning to change
colours, the crops are being
harvested, and temperatures are
getting cooler.
This upcoming weekend, pies will
be baked, turkeys will be carved, and
family and friends will gather
around the table to share in a
Thanksgiving meal. It's the time of
year that we pause and give thanks

for the many blessings in our lives,
the abundance that God has given us
and the gratitude we feel for the
abundance. When we read 2
Corinthians, we know that God calls
us to be a cheerful giver, offering our
time, talents and treasures with an
open and gracious heart.
However, when we think of the
word `Thanksgiving', how many of
us break it down into two words?
"Thanks" and "Giving"? When we
separate the word and see it as two
separate actions, this invites us into a
new way of celebrating this holiday.
Thanks and giving are two very
different actions and for many of us,
we only participate in the one.
When we offer our thanks to God

for the blessings that have been
bestowed up on us, we in turn are
invited to share those blessings with
others who may be in need. When
we first glance at our community we
may not see the need within it,
however when we look at little
deeper and listen for the heartbeat of
the town, there is hurt, pain and need
right here in North Huron.
As we gather around a table
in community and in fellowship,
I invite you to offer thanks to God
for the blessings in your life, and to
share in those blessings with those in
our community. As shared in
2 Corinthians "All this is for your
benefit, so that the grace that is
reaching more and more people,
may cause thanksgiving to overflow
to the glory of God"
Wishing you the gift of faith and
the blessing of hope this
thanksgiving weekend.
