IPM Queens take to main stage Friday morning About that time It doesn't seem like that long ago that former Queen of the Furrow Kate Higgins, Princess Emily Terpstra, MP Ben Lobb and host farmer Jack Ryan were pulling back the tarp of the official sign at the International Plowing Match site and now the match is here, set to begin Tuesday morning with a parade and opening ceremonies before the official programming starts. (File photo) Continued from page 1 will take place at the Hydro One Education Centre at 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. WEDNESDAY Plowing on Wednesday begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by horse plowing at 10 a.m. The Queen of the Furrow contestants will be plowing at 2:30 p.m. The Knights of Valour show is at 9:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m. at the CKNX Events Centre. Also at the centre is the Brussels Fall Fair 4- H show, which begins at 10:30 a.m. and the auctioneers' challenge at 2 p.m. Gloria and Keith Wilbee will be on the Brussels Fall Fair stage at 10 a.m., followed by the Belmore Community Choir at 1 p.m. On Wednesday the Tailgate Talks Tent programming begins with a discussion on farm assessment and taxation at 10 a.m., farm business structures at noon and preventing barn fires at 2 p.m. Sean Hogan is on the main stage at 10 a.m. and he will then perform in the lounge at 4 p.m. In the RAM Rodeo Ring, the Cowboy Trail Challenge will take place at 9 a.m., followed by a demonstration by the Turkey Run Ranch at 10 a.m. and two performances by Birds of Prey at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Gusso and Eddington will be back cooking at 10 a.m. in the Lifestyles Tent, while Heather DeJong will be speaking at noon. Reynolds, Robinson and Lodge will perform on the Huron County Showcase stage at noon, while Matt Hussey will perform at 2 p.m. The Clinton Wheelers 'n Dealers square dancing group will perform on the Ontario Mutuals Stage at 10 a.m., followed by Jason Lamont at 11 a.m., the Wilbees at noon, The Nn" M.LE_C- 1gricalttaal .1 sdenta! SEAFOfi X51 A welcoming bunch In 2013, Walton was named the host community for the 2017 International Plowing Match at a special ceremony held in Seaforth. At that celebration, several Walton landowners donating their land to the match were recognized for their community spirit and willingness to come forward and help make the match a reality. (File photo) HEET at 1 p.m. and the St. Onge family at 2 p.m. THURSDAY Audibly Awesome will be on the main stage at 10 a.m. on Thursday, followed by the Next Generation Leahy at 11 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. The Ballaghs will be the final group on the main stage that day, performing at 3:30 p.m. Don and Dale Chesher and Friends will be performing on the Brussels Fall Fair stage at 10 a.m., followed by Jan's Dance Shop at 11 a.m., the Hiller family at 1 p.m., Louise Poirier at 2 p.m. and Cappy Onn's Huron County fiddle students at 3 p.m. Sheep Shearing Plus, which will feature Dan Needles and the "Perils of Persephone Township", will take place in the CKNX Events Centre at 11:30 a.m., while Cappy Onn and her Huron County fiddle students will take to the Ontario Mutuals Stage at 11 a.m. The RAM Rodeo Tour will have two shows on Thursday at noon and 2 p.m. in the RAM Rodeo Ring and the Mudmen will perform at 4 p.m. in the lounge. Representatives from the Maelstrom Winery and Blyth Farm Cheese will speak in the Lifestyles Tent at 10 a.m., while Frankie Flowers will be speaking at 1 p.m. Cream of the Crop Talks will be on the County Showcase Stage at 10 a.m., while Tom Melady and Friends will perform at noon. Succession planning will be the topic of conversation in the Tailgate Talks Tent at noon. FRIDAY Queen of the Furrow speeches will begin at 10 a.m. on the Huron Mutuals main stage, while Eric Ethridge will perform at 1:30 p.m. and George Canyon will take to the stage at 3 p.m. Dog agility performances will take place at the CKNX Events Centre at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., while the Snell Family Connection will be on the Ontario Mutuals Stage at 10 a.m., followed by Bob Heywood at noon and Luca "Lazylegz" Patuelli, who will also be performing in the Hydro One Education Centre at 10 a.m. The Brussels Legion Pipe Band will perform on the Brussels Fall Fair stage at 11 a.m., while the Snell Family Connection will play at 3 p.m. Highway 21 will be performing in the lounge at 1 p.m., followed by Matt Hussey at 2 p.m. and Ethridge again at 4 p.m. The RAM Rodeo Tour will get going again at noon and 2 p.m. in the RAM Rodeo Ring, while in the Lifestyles Tent Marilyn Smith of CityLine will speak at 1 p.m. and Pauline Hoffman will speak on Continued on page 11 The transition IPM Secretary Lynne Godkin and host farmer Jack Ryan's grandchildren were part of a special soil transfer ceremony after the 2016 IPM's closing ceremonies, officially passing the torch from one IPM to another.
