Darren Woluschuk will be the next featured artist at the
Blyth Festival Art Gallery with his exhibit, "Reflections From
The Sands". It opens Friday, Aug. 4. (Photo submitted)
Why would an electrician with
over a decade of experience working
in the oil sands' industrial plants
move to Seaforth? Darren
Woluschuk was surrounded by
massive stainless -clad structures —
some of 100-200 feet high, with
hundreds of pipes that run for miles
in every direction — and found them
somehow visually aesthetic.
"I couldn't help but start
documenting the images through
drawings, sketches and painting
studies. I had the privilege of seeing
the sunrise and the sunset from
hundreds of feet in the air at times. It
really is captivating and one could
not leave this place without
somehow being moved," he said.
He followed his to Seaforth heart,
"because of my wonderful wife,
Amy„
Darren now works from his third -
floor home studio in Seaforth to
paint large, vivid life -like images
interwoven into a surreal landscape.
