Festival of Thrones set for 2018 at Cowbell site
Grab a drinking horn and pull up a
throne of swords, the Festival of
Thrones will be the next adventure
for Transfigured Town Inc.
Just like the Festival of Wizardry,
the Festival of Thrones will be held
in Blyth, but this festival will be held
at Blyth Cowbell Brewing Company
where its brewmaster Stephen Rich
has plans for private label beers
brewed especially for festival goers.
Festival goers can enjoy live,
medieval -inspired music from
England, Germany, Spain and
Scandinavia.
Experience the jousting talents of
Knights of Valour fresh off the fields
from Robert's Rebellion and shop in
King's Landing with licensed and
craft vendors.
Conspiring rogues and noble
rangers can try their hands at
archery/hatchet throwing and even
play archery tag.
Selfies can be taken amongst the
themed props, sets and costumed
actors located in 'Selfie Park'.
A big part of the Festival of
Thrones is to include a Fan Day
which will feature more workshops
and special guest panelists,
including actors, film crews and/or
authors.
Transfigured Town's festival, the
Festival of Wizardry, sold
approximately 6,000 tickets in less
than eight hours and, and with so
much excitement surrounding the
new television series, they anticipate
ticket sales to take off again.
Transfigured Town Inc. e-mail
subscribers have already purchased
tickets reducing the 10,000 total
(5,000 per day) tickets before the
announcement became public.

THE EDITOR,
The 140th birthday of Blyth
seemed to me to be the ideal time to
let your readers in Blyth know what
a jewel you have in The Repository
Of Blyth History and the directors
Janis and Brock Vodden.
I discovered them by chance
about four years ago while searching
for my Canadian ancestors in Blyth.
While walking around town trying
to find a knowledgeable historian

Happy birthday to Kelsey Kerr
who celebrates July 28; Doug
Craig, Atwood, July 30 and Emily
de Corte, Zurich, July 31.
Come out and help Blyth
celebrate 140 years. There are many
events planned — one of which is
that of the Blyth Ministerial
Association. On Sunday, July 30 at
10 a.m. in the Lions Park a Blyth
Community Worship service will be
held. Following the service there
will be an old-fashioned picnic, so
bring along a lunch for your family
and join in the fun and games.
me in the direction of the Voddens.
Their love of Blyth and the
history of the surrounding
communities was infectious and I
soon became an avid researcher of
my Kelly ancestors and a yearly
pilgrim to Blyth from my home in
the United States.
The amazing information the
Voddens have gathered and so
freely shared with the people
searching for their family history is
something all residents should be
proud of.
If it wasn't for their love of history
and willingness to share their
discoveries, myself and so many
others wouldn't have a fraction of
the information of our ancestors that
we now do.
Happy Birthday Blyth!

Saturday tickets, Hedge Passes,
can be purchased for $35 (kids under
five are free).
Sunday tickets, Fan Day Passes,
are $75 for all ages and will give
access to well-known actors, film
crews and/or authors.
Weekend VIP tickets, Liege
Passes, are $150 which will let VIP
attendees access the full weekend,
get in an hour early each day, and
allow them priority seating for
concerts and panels. Lastly, parking
passes will be only $10 in advance
and $20 at the gate.
In an effort to reduce the chance of
ticket bots getting in on the action
and ticket scalping, the organizers
have added human confirmation
questions and limited the number of
tickets that can be purchased online
at transfiguredtown.com. They do
apologize for any difficulty this
creates for humans or robots with
good intentions.
In the very likely event that tickets
sell out or if people want to just get
involved there will be opportunities
for people to volunteer for a shift in
exchange for a full day's access to
the festival.
Priority will be given to people
based on their location, experience,
and the order in which applications
are received. Transfigured Town Inc.
also offers fundraising opportunities
to local service, sports, charity, and

Nothing is more helpful and practical in Christian living!
(J.R. Miller)
"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it
day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8
The habit of treasuring up a text of Scripture in the morning, to be
meditated upon while engaged in the business of the world through the
day --is both profitable and delightful. It is as a refreshing spring to a
weary traveler!
Nothing is more helpful and practical in Christian living, than the
habit of getting a verse of Scripture into the mind and heart in the
morning. Its influence stays through the day, weaving itself into all the
day's thoughts and words and experiences.
Every verse in the Bible is meant to help us to live --and a good devotional
book opens up the precious teachings which are folded up in its words.
A devotional book, which takes a Scripture text, and so opens it for us in
the morning --that all day long it helps us to live, becoming a true lamp to
our feet, and a staff to lean upon when the way is rough --is the very best
devotional help we can possibly have. What we need in a devotional book
which will bless our lives --is the application of the great teachings of
Scripture --to common, daily, practical life!
"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or
stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is
in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night!"
