(Denny Scott photo) Memories follow the departed A NOTE FROM BETTY By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-9231 There's something about the days of summer that make it real easy to get lazy. I'm not sure where that comes from. The work is still there, but it just seems easier to put it off. So hurrah for summer and the effect it has on us. Whenever something of significance occurs, we tend to take a look at our life, where it's going and perhaps where we've been. A time to take stock and see what's up. When someone is diagnosed with details that have life -altering effects, we take on the future and the past with great detail. Life can be seen as a road with many intersections, detours, lane choices and stop signs. At other times I see life as a circle, events and people weaving in and out of our days. For sure life is not static. In some parts of life we have choices and in others, acceptance is the only game in town. Knowing the difference is tough. When we hear of people in our life who have died, we remember stories or events when they came into our lives. These are the stories that families need to hear as they grieve their personal loss. Thinking about Mr. Jorritsma, the 5R's and his many purchases bring a smile, always pleasant and friendly, he did his part to recycle the recycled. He was never Klaas, just Mr. Jorritsma with a smile. With Margery Huether's death, come memories of Brussels Public School, my boys in music classes and her enthusiasm for unseen talent. Her lovely smile, usually present, they were boys after all is my memory. With Max Watts, I remember his passion for life, for seeing better ways to do the same old things, often ahead of his time. He was a person whose eyes you had to watch to see if he was serious or teasing, his mind always busy. So as I write this, this week, I think of all the people who have passed though our days and for these three I'm thankful for kindness, enthusiasm and passion for life. Camps of many varieties are available and keeping the kids busy. The cooking one held last week at the Community Centre with the Health Unit and Donna Bauer in the lead was well received. The new and re -enforced cooking knowledge that the young folks took away is a good investment. Theatre tickets, the community church service in the Conservation Area and the fiddle jamboree are the things to do this coming week. Details are in the paper. Take care, Betty G.W. Extreme Rock, Paper, Scissors A Vacation Bible School was held at the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship this week. On Monday, the outdoor activity at the event started with a variation of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Shown playing are Evan Becker, left, and Xavier Valdez.
