Beard competition

Fatal collision under
OPP investigation
On June 30, shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP), Huron County
Paramedic Services and the Gorrie
Fire Department responded to a fatal
motor vehicle crash in Morris-
Turnberry at the intersection of
County Roads 7 and 12.
The preliminary investigation has
determined the driver of a Mazda 3
was travelling northbound on
Belmore Line when he lost control
of his vehicle.
His vehicle left the roadway on the
east side, struck a culvert and rolled
several times. The driver/lone
occupant was ejected from the
vehicle.
He was transported from the scene
to a local hospital where he
succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified
as 37 -year-old Daniel Gingerich of
Sebringville.

Obituaries
UTV, GENERATOR STOLEN
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers are
investigating a break, enter and theft
from a drive shed located on
Donnybrook Line.
Sometime late last month suspects
gained entry into a drive shed
through an unlocked man door. Once
inside they located and stole a white
and orange 2015 Polaris Ranger
UTV, a blue New Holland Inverter
generator, an 18 -volt Dewalt impact
drill, an 18 -volt Dewalt drill, Dewalt
circular saw and some pork sausage
from the freezer.
In total, the stolen goods are
valued at approximately $20,000.

TAMMI EBBAGE
Tammi Jane (Dufour) Slingsby
Ebbage of Ethel, passed away on
Wednesday, June 28, 2017 after a
battle with breast cancer. She was in
her 47th year.
Tammi was the daughter of
Clarice Dufour of Windsor and the
late Alvin, and the late Kenneth and
Betty Slingsby and granddaughter of
Marlene Davelaar of Strathroy and
the late Everett.
She was the beloved wife of Toby
Ebbage and mother of Justin Bedard,
Montreal, Quebec; Danielle and
Scott Bramhill, Sevierville,
Tennessee and Erin, Cole, and
Austin Lindsay, all of Ethel.
Tammi was the sister of Bill
Dufour, British Columbia; Sherri
and Sean Huter, North Bay; Jodi
Dufour, Windsor; Jay and Jacquelyn
Dufour, Lethbridge, Alberta and
Laurie Dufour, Utica, Michigan, and
the late Tim and sister-in-law of
Matt Ebbage, Conestogo and Tina
Ebbage and Cory Gross, Ethel.
Tammi will be remembered by
Toby's parents Gina Ebbage and Ed
Warford, Conestogo and David
Ebbage and Diane Murray, London
and by his Oma Rita Maassen.
Visitation was held at Gorrie Bible
Fellowship on Sunday. The funeral
service was held on Monday, July 3.
Following cremation, interment
was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery,
Ethel.
Memorial donations to an
Education Trust Fund for Tammi's
children (cheques made payable to
Toby Ebbage), Gorrie Bible
Fellowship Community Care Fund,
or Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation would be appreciated,
Pallbearers were Seth Nichol,
Ethan Nichol, Paul Nichol, Stuart
MacNeil, Jeremy Chamberlain and
David Crack. The interment took
place on Friday, June 30 at
St. Andrew's Roman Catholic
Cemetery, Brechin, Ontario.
As expressions of sympathy,

Alzheimer's Society of Huron
County, the Brussels Fire
Department or a local charity of
one's choice would be appreciated

KLAAS JORRITSMA
Klaas Jorritsma formerly of
RR 3, Wingham passed away at
Wingham and District Hospital on
Tuesday, June 27, 2017. He was 88.
Klaas was the beloved husband of
the late Jantje "Jennie" (Bakker)
Jorritsma who predeceased him in
1996 and the loving father of Tineke
Jorritsma and friend Michael
Waldin, Toronto; Annette and
Andrew te Raa, Goderich and Klaas
and Shelley Jorritsma, Brussels.
Klaas was the cherished Pake of
Mitchell te Raa and Katie, Janelle te
Raa (Brandan), Joshua and Jess
Jorritsma and Richelle and Ryan
Smith and the great-Pake of Alice,
Saleena, and Elsy Jorritsma and
Aleah and Pierce Smith. He was the
brother of Hendrik and Chris
Jorritsma and brother-in-law of
Dieuwke Martens, Bakke and
Jacobes Cupido, Rein and Grietje
Bakker and Anneke Jorritsma.
Klaas was predeceased by his
grandson Andre te Raa, siblings
Anne (Beppe), Steffen, Geertje,
Jitte, Sietze, three siblings in
childhood, brothers-in-law Jan
Bakker (Tryntje), John Martens, and
sisters-in-law Janna Reitsma
(Sybren) and Wybrig de Haan
(Cornelius).
Visitation and the funeral service
were held at McBurney Funeral
Home Ltd., Wingham on Friday,
June 30. Pastor Gary Fischer
officiated. Klaas' final resting place
is in Wingham Cemetery.

LEO MACNEIL
Leo Hector MacNeil of Brussels,
and formerly of Brechin and Cape
Breton, passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family at Seaforth
Community Hospital on Monday,
June 26, 2017. Born in St. Margaret's
Village, Cape Breton on Feb. 8,
1927, Leo was in his 91st year.
Leo was the beloved husband of
the late Mary MacKinnon and the
late Gertrude "Trudy" Crack (April
25, 1995). Leo was the dear father of
Kevin and Sandy MacNeil, Brechin;
Kathy and Paul Nichol, Brussels and
J. D. and Martha MacNeil, Guelph
and the loving grandfather of
Jeremy, Kristin, Katie, Stuart, Ethan,
Seth, Connor, and Duncan and great-
grandfather of Logan, Dylan, Chloe,
Abel, and Lilyana. Leo is also loved
by his many nieces and nephews.
Leo was predeceased by his
siblings Elizabeth and Joe MacNeil,
Jim and Rita MacNeil, George and
Refina MacNeil, Dan and Lillian
MacNeil and Anne and Howard
Coones.
The family received friends on
June 28 and June 29 at the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels, ahead of a Mass of
Christian Burial on June 29 from St.
Ambrose Roman Catholic Church,
Brussels.
A reception followed in the church
hall with remembrances of Leo
given by his grandson Seth, nephew
David Crack and niece Cyndi
Montana.
ROBERT DONALD
McCLINCHEY
Mr. Robert Donald McClinchey,
Blyth passed away peacefully at
Seaforth Community Hospital on
Friday, June 30, 2017. He was in his
92nd year.
Robert was the beloved husband
of the late Frances (Hollyman)
McClinchey (2008) and the loving
father of Patricia Brigham and
Wayne and Dorothy McClinchey, all
of Blyth. He will be sadly missed by
grandchildren Gregory (Julie),
Jennifer, Mary (Denise Keatley),
Kendra (Darrell Yule), Gordon and
great-grandchildren Mieka and
Koby.
Robert was the dear brother of
Bill (Joanne) McClinchey, Jewel
Plunkett, Norman (Lila)
McClinchey, Dave McClinchey and
John (Maureen) McClinchey. He
was predeceased by his parents
Gordon and Lillian (Anderson)
McClinchey and sister Eileen
Haggitt.
Robert will be missed for his smile
and his fiddle playing.
Friends are invited to the Falconer
Funeral Homes, Blyth Chapel for
visitation on Friday, July 7 from
6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will
be held on Saturday, July 8 at
11 a.m. Interment will be held at
Blyth Union Cemetery.

Community Hospital, Clinton Public
Hospital Foundation or the
Blyth Arena Living Tree Fund
