Hallahan, Speer to speak at Knox church PEOPLE AROUND BELGRAVE A big day The Royal Oaks Medical Centre in Wingham has been open for a few months, but it took a little time for Royal Oaks Remedy's Rx pharmacy to organize its grand opening and barbecue. The pharmacy was one of the first tenants in the building, and the first commercial tenant to begin operating out of the site. Over the weekend, Huron -Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson cut the ribbon at the business. From left: owners/pharmacists Cathy and Will Schill, Thompson, manager/pharmacist Matthew Digiovanni and pharmacist assistants Liz Jamieson -Visser and Stacey Morrison. On Sunday, June 18, Father's Day, special guests Grace Hallahan and James Speer will entertain with their speaking talents at Knox United Church. James was just named the Provincial storytelling champion for Grades 1-3. Come and enjoy some delicious chicken after the service. Remember to bring your lawn chairs. Everyone is welcome. At Knox United Church on Sunday, June 4, Brian Hymers lit the Christ candle. The Creator brought • June 10 marks 55 -year UCW anniversary June 10 was the 55th anniversary of United Church Women. A celebration will be held at the University of British Columbia, July 10-14. London Conference has had one National President: Muriel Coultes, 1994-1996. In 1962, women across Canada that belonged to a Women's Missionary Society or a Women's Auxiliary agreed to join together to become one group, United Church Women. Huron Presbyterial held its opening ceremony in Seaforth with a packed church. The late Margaret Michie was the president of the Presbyterial. Local UCW groups were formed across the church and continued to study missions and support of the local congregation. Anyone attending that meeting was made a Charter member of the UCW. In 1978, the first woman was hired to service the UCWs across Canada and look after life membership pins. Her position was referred to as the "Women's Desk". The National UCW were supported for many years by the Division of Mission in Canada. That no longer happens and that is why members today are asked to send $1 per UCW member to support women who attend the National meetings. For the 50th Anniversary, the National asked for $50,000 to support the Marogoro Project for midwives and mothers and to everyone's surprise by this year $268,956 has been sent to Tanzania to train and supply the women there with necessary equipment. This is just the latest project the group has supported over the years and it will not be the last. It is well known that if it wasn't for the UCWs in local churches, many would not have survived. Belgrave has been well served by the UCW here and we hope to be able to continue to express our loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study and fellowship and service. The community extends sincere sympathy to Nicole and Chris Casemore and Angela and Scott McPherson on the loss of their father Jack Ross who passed away on May 28. FROM BELGRAVE each and everyone to church to witness yet another start, the 160th year of Trinity United Church of Ashfield and to welcome a new member to Knox United Church, Belgrave. As the Lord is a relentless leader and for that blessing Your presence in this candle is received. We are all loved as we worship in Your presence. The gathering prayer was followed by the welcoming hymn, "Thine is the Glory". After the call to worship was read responsively, the children's hymn "Hallelujah, Hallelujah" and the children's story followed. Mackenzie Wightman, a new member, was welcomed into the congregation and into the membership of faith. In the name of Jesus Christ Mackenzie was welcomed to the privileges and responsibilities of membership in this congregation. The hymn of response was, "All Hail the Power". The offering was taken up and dedicated. The closing hymn, "Crown Him with Many Crowns", benediction and blessing, "Go Now in Peace" concluded the morning worship service. - au CENTII MORTGAGES BETTEROPTION MORTGAGE LOWER YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENTS AND CONSOLIDATE YOUR DEBT NOW!!! 1st, 2nd, 3rd MORTGAGES Debt Consolidation Refinancing, Renovations Tax Arrears, No CMHC Fees $50K YOU PAY: $208.33 / MONTH (OAC) No Income, Bad Credit Power of Sale Stopped!!!
