Sportbike champion to host freestyle event for IPM
Walton is home to the Walton
Raceway, an off-road vehicle
motorsport park that began operating
in 1975. Owned and operated by
Chris and Judy Lee and their family,
it has built itself as a major stop on
the competitive circuit.
The 100th International Plowing
Match and Rural Expo (IPM 2017)
is being held this year in Walton,
and as a tribute, will host Jordan
Szoke, five -time National Sportbike
Champion, 2016 BMW Motorrad

Historical documents
welcomed for kiosk
Continued from page 1
is an information kiosk that will be
placed near the ticket booth in the
new structure.
The kiosk is set to replace
historical mini -museum displays
that were in front of the structure
prior to the renovations. The
displays would hold historical
artifacts and information, but
weren't part of the redesigned
landscape.
The kiosk is a digital replacement,
allowing not only historical
information to be discovered but
also information about local events.
The system will include a touch
screen and digital information
compiled by Faux Pop Media, a
media production company based
out of Goderich.
In an interview with The Citizen,
Newson explained that, for the grand
opening, the kiosk will have
historical information about the
village and Memorial Hall, as well
as information about local
attractions. She said one of the
benefits of the digital system is that
it can be updated with new
information whenever it becomes
available and isn't limited by display
space.
The Blyth Memorial Community
Hall Kiosk Committee and a sub-
committee of that group have rolled
out the kiosks and are responsible
for the history that will be displayed
on the units.
As part of the open house, there
will be scanner stations at Memorial
Hall which Newson said will be on-
site to allow people to bring
documents to add to the historical
kiosk.
"We hope people will want to
share what they have at home with
us," she said. "Scanning it means we
can display it but not have to keep it
from them"
As for the historical kiosks,
Newson said they may still find use
somewhere in the community.
"There are similar constructs on
the Blyth Greenway Trail," she said.
"Until we know how we're going to
use them, we're putting them in
storage.
140th could feature dinner
The Blyth 140th reunion
committee is attempting to fill a spot
in the village's anniversary
celebration the last weekend in July.
Set to commemorate the
anniversary of the founding of
Blyth, the group had partnered with
the Blyth Lions club who were set to
help celebrate with a dinner on the
Saturday of the competition,
however those plans have changed.
Committee Chair Crystal Taylor
said, during the Blyth Business
Improvement Area's (BIA) May 3
meeting, that the Lions leaving the
celebration had left a hole in their
schedule.
The 140th committee hopes to
have a dinner on Saturday night
prior to the dance, though details are
still being arranged.
"Blyth Cowbell Brewing
Company is looking at
entertainment and possibly attaining
a liquor licence and having some
activities as part of the weekend,"
Taylor reported. "We're hoping a
business decides to help out."
Taylor reported that the
organization plans on having a
smoke-free movie on Friday night at
the community centre as well as a
dance on Saturday evening
after a dinner, if one can be
arranged.
Sunday, an interdenominational
church service is set at Lions park as
well as children's activities and
family games.

This demonstration will occur
three times a day, every day, in the

opportunities to see this heart -
pounding show. Jordan Szoke will
also be joined by his wife Amy
Szoke, a professional motorbike
stuntwoman, and their six-year-old
son, Wolfgang Szoke, riding his
electric minibike.
"Unlike traditional motocross,
freestyle motocross places less
emphasis on high speeds but on the
abilities of daredevil riders who
perform thrilling and death -defying
stunts high in the air," said Amy
Szoke.
Brett Lee of Walton Raceway will
be commentating the stunts
performed by the Szoke Family to
give the audience a full
