Church Guild's Canada 150th presentation coming
The April meeting of the Melville
Presbyterian Church Women's Guild
and Women's Missionary Society
was held on Tuesday, April 18 in the
church parlour.
Alice Marks read the call to
worship and the WMS Purpose was
repeated in unison to open the
meeting. Alice Marks and Dona
Knight were in charge of the
devotional portion of the meeting.
The theme of the meeting was
"Spiritual Gardening", how the
gardener is dependent upon the
creator. The hymn, "All Things
Bright and Beautiful" was sung and
the scripture, Matthew 13: 1-13 were
read in unison. Mrs. Marks read a
poem, "'Tis Spring" and the topic
"Spiritual Gardening" as read by
Dona Knight, followed by prayer. A
poem, "Thought on a Spring
Day" was read by Alice Marks
and the hymn "God Who Made
the Earth" was sung and the
Mizpah Benediction was repeated in
unison to close this part of the
meeting.
Alice Marks presided over the
business. The minutes of the March
meeting were read and adopted as
read by Alice Marks, seconded by
Elaine Armstrong. The Guild
treasurer's report was given by Alice
Marks and the WMS treasurer's
report was given by Leona
Armstrong. The Springtime Supper
to be held on April 30 in the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre was discussed.
The roll call was answered with each
member telling what they would
take to the springtime supper. The
Presbytery scheduled to be held at
Melville Church on Wednesday,
April 26 was also discussed.
Margaret Mclnroy and Peggy
Aitcheson volunteered to host the
May 16 meeting. Margaret Mclnroy
will do a presentation on Canada's
150th anniversary. There was a
discussion about inviting the
Molesworth ladies to the Guild
meeting and it was decided to hold
this meeting on Oct. 3.
Peggy Aitcheson moved to
adjourn the meeting and a time of
fellowship and a lovely lunch was
enjoyed by all after the group's April
18 meeting.
